    Tips ignored

With today's payment options by debit you are automatically offered the option of including a tip. Press one, two or three for the amount you choose. I don't buy into that in most cases. I carry a one or two dollar coin for the purpose of quick purchases. There is almost always a tip jar of some sort.

When I drop a coin into the tip jar and get no reaction from the deadhead behind the counter I feel a need to say something appropriate, but that is no longer is satisfactory

I simply reach in and extract my tip, just to witness the reaction from the fool on the dunces face

once you put the coin in the jar it belongs to the person who owns the jar, no? What level of appreciation do these folks need to show before you actually give them the tip? And once you do this in a place do you ever go back to the place and get dirty looks or bad service?

I tip on most every purchase but I expect a wee bit of recognition.
I think I could talk my way out of retrieving said tip.

Maybe you're right. Acknowledgement would have been the better word to have used

One or two dollar tip? What the hell are you buying where you can tip so little? Even McDonalds in Canada is now over ten dollars a meal.

I mean really is someone suppose to show gratitude for tipping them next to nothing? If anything your actions will only serve as an amusing story they can tell their friends when they are drunk.

Good joke. Did you really not start drinking until you were 18/19?

You figure it out before quitting the forum. I was abandoned at age 8 and have relied on the kindness of strangers for years.

    Merry Christmas
