    - Remoteness (difficulty to receive supply)
    - Opportunistic gouging

The federal government does indeed have some influence on the prices, but only the base prices, and only to a certain extent. Of course, foreign oil prices are what drive a lot of the prices up and down.

However, that's not to let states like California off the hook. They've got a terrible 1-2 punch of high state/local taxes AND crippling environmental regulations which cause higher production costs (which is then passed onto consumers).

A big problem is that California believes it can extract tons of extra money out of gas tax when prices are low, and then the state becomes addicted to the money and can't remove the tax when prices get high. So we end up with situations like right now.

You also shouldn't be too worried by shock pictures of super high prices, as these tend to be at certain outlier stations which set prices outrageously high because people will still pay it. This includes remote or semi-remote tourist destinations, wealthy neighborhoods where the clientele doesn't care that much, etc.

I recommend getting the GasBuddy app, and you can see prices in your area, and find the best stations to frequent.
I mean, not to sound above the commoner, but how fucking poor do you have to be to have an app on your phone to save a dime a gallon? By the time you drove across town you already wasted your profits. Not to mention your time, but if you are hunting for a dime a gallon discount you probably don't give a shit. Funny thing is you know these gas hunters go right into the convenience store and buy a hot dog or a pizza slice.
You don't have to go across town. You use it to get to know the good stations in your area, and then you just go to those regularly when you are nearby.

Also it's good to just quickly survey the stations when you need gas in an unfamiliar place. Obv you don't drive 5 miles down the road for a better gas price, but if they're all within a 0.5 mile radius, you can grab the one which is best.

I guess I am just old school, but I would never consider in my life to make a U-Turn to scrounge an extra nickel a gallon. Even if I were down to my last 50 bucks.

Biden is senile, and the printing presses helped cause inflation. Not sure why you think everyone here is wrong but you, that’s a really hilarious gimmick tho.
Because you are in fact wrong. If 99 people believe something incorrect and 1 believes something correct, the 1 is still right and the 99 are still wrong.

In 2 years at the very most, inflation will be at the same very low level it was before the pandemic, printing presses or no printing presses.

So you disagree with all the idiots in this thread blaming it on Biden. Nice to see.

there exists better sources for petro info than any of the shit available on tv or the majority of web sites. huge media reports gas $ increases as a crisis only to keep eyes on, never will mention lack of competition amongst a dozen petro giants

or that the the US exports nearly as much petro products as it imports. other media jump at the chance to pin the sitting prez, regardless of party. the huge refining capacity of the gulf coast translates into the export of refined products.

so any report of a lack of supplies driving price up is shit. the refiners sell to highest bidder. if all of south america will pay more for diesel and aviation gas than us, they get the goods. and SA does exactly that. that's global capitalism.

not under the control of a president of any stripe. unless a president nationalizes Occidental Petroleum, Devon Energy, Chesapeake Energy, Exxon Mobil, Chevron, Phillips 66, et al. But that would be Chavez socialism or chicom totalitarian.

samples of my sources....global capital will, well, globally churn. relax, nothing ya can do but bitch. just not as loudly as our neighbors or most of the rest of the world.

It's about equity and saving the planet.
Fyi our newly arrived brothers from Haiti don't have any cars and most white people do, why is that? Systemic racism and white privilege.
To make a long story short the right thing for all white people to do is to donate your car to a person of color and take public transport.
With the money you saved on fuel you can us that to bail a black man out of jail. Only then will you truly be alive.

While you guys are driving around listening to Mozart this is what's happening in the arctic.
