By the way, does anyone remember seeing an MLB team with a 10-40 record after 50 games?

    You don't?

That's because you'd have to be over 95 to remember that. It last occurred in 1932, with the Red Sox.

That's Oakland's record right now. They are on pace to go 32-128.

This team will be in LV in two seasons, if all goes as planned.

$1.5 billion stadium with retractable roof. $380m in public funding to the A's.

Nevada tentatively agreed to $180m in tax credits, $120m in bond-measure funding, and $25m from Clark County for "infrastructure improvements". Not sure where the other $55m comes in.

This isn't a done deal yet, as the Nevada legislature could reject it, or MLB could refuse to let the A's move.

This should all become more clear within the next month or so.

Reverse protest at the Coliseum tonight. It's going to be rowdy.

Guessing there will be 25,000-30,000 which is crazy for a Tuesday game against the Rays.

I'll be there for what might be the last time.

Yes, this is the first protest I've ever seen which is centered upon a lot of people showing up and patronizing a business to express their displeasure!

Supposedly the A's won't be ready for this, as they staff assuming about 5,000 fans per game, and this will overwhelm them. I feel bad for the workers tonight.

Somehow the A's have won 6 straight, after an MLB-record-worst 12-50 start. Amazingly they are just 1 game behind the KC Royals right now.

    $380m funding bill passes: https://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/...dium-las-vegas

It is now looking like the move is highly likely to happen.

Laughably, in typical government fashion, two totally unrelated, Democrat-backed measures were tied to the bill. One forces 12-week paid family medical leave for certain businesses, and the other requires state monorail projects to adhere to certain wage laws.

I mean technically the Seals were never much of a thing and it had been a long time. On the other hand, the Raiders leaving for a second time was the big domino to fall and now Warriors moved across the Bay and A's are following Raiders to Vegas. Oakland has such screwed up clowns running it almost more inept than San Fran at this point and it's like the black sheep shithole twin of San Fran (which has its own myriad of problems itself obviously).

Nobody is talking about the fact that the A's are probably gonna be in Vegas in 2025, and will be playing in the blistering heat in a MINOR LEAGUE STADIUM for three fucking years until the new stadium is ready.

That would be quite the hindrance if they were actually trying to win...

Can you imagine those spoiled major leaguer superstars coming into town and having to play 3 consecutive games in that 95 degree evening heat? They’re going to be whining like little bitches.

"The A's are still uncertain about where they will play their home games from 2025-27.
Potential options include a lease extension at the Coliseum, splitting home games between Oracle Park in San Francisco and the Triple-A ballpark in Las Vegas, or another solution."

    Whoops.

Looks like the Trop site isn't going to work, due to its size, and the bill authorizing the A's coming to Vegas specifically is about that site.

The problem? The stadium needs more room in order to have a retractable roof, and the only other option would be to make the stadium taller instead of wider. However, they can't make it taller because of its proximity to the airport, so the whole thing is a...

This saga should really end with Fisher owning a homeless team.

Maybe it will end like the Oklahoma City Thunder.

Recall that the New Orleans Hornets temporarily relocated to OKC when they were "homeless" due to 2005's Hurricane Katrina, and the damage it did to their arena.

They were so popular during that temporary stint that suddenly OKC became a highly coveted NBA relocation venue. The Seattle SuperSonics eventually moved there 3 years later, and became the Oklahoma City Thunder in 2008-09. Had there been no Hurricane Katrina, there likely would be no Oklahoma City Thunder.

It is possible that the A's could take up temporary residence somewhere if they end up "homeless", and might be embraced in similar fashion. This could especially be the case if it's a city with no other major professional sports (like OKC was in 2005), and if the A's aren't a quadruple-A failteam at that point. The latter, however, is unlikely, barring the rise of current prospects into MLB stars by that point.

Best part of the twitter fight is Oakland residents telling the As cant move to Salt Lake because its a shit location.

The levity of such statements are not lost on most of the rebuttals.

What are they claiming is wrong with SLC?

Actually it's pretty nice there from April to October. Yeah, it's not that big of a market, and it's isolated, so it won't get much attendance or fandom from outlying areas (same problem Vegas has). However, the Jazz have done pretty well there, and while the entire state of Utah has only 3.3m people, they might get some fandom from northern Nevada, Idaho, and Montana.
