Someone Died Right in Front of Me

I’m at work tonight (blackjack dealer) on a table facing the men’s bathroom. Man in his mid 50s collapses right in front of me, coming out of the bathroom. EMTs tried to revive him and but he was gone. Pretty fucked up to watch.

Have you ever witnessed someone die right in front of you?

Have had a bunch of friends die... but in front of me 3 all skiing accidents

my friends wife in a heli ski avalanche

my friend fell at high speed trying to avoid collision with other skiers coming around blind corner whistler.

my friend died while in whistler back country skiing fell from 3oo foot cliff while trying to traversing narrow ledge he survived fall but died not long after waiting for rescue no cell service out there, his wife stayed behind while we went for help, very sad situation. I pretty much stopped back country skiing after this requested from my wife.

had four friends all die in the same avalanche on a cat skiing trip. Neilson BC

    Jesus. Do you still ski?

I skied last winter for the first time on real shit (if Oregon counts, previous was just bunny shit in Virginia) and loved it but couldn't shake the feeling of how dangerous it was that a complete noob like myself was just fucking around on blues and greens with no real clue.

Surprised there aren't a lot more fatalities every year.

Kid died in a soccer game I was playing in.

Refs and facility people sucked and basically did nothing but keep us all away while they waited for ambulance. Prob coulda saved him if they had defibrillator or trained staff.

Years ago, I was in the Houston airport on the way to a friend’s wedding. Some woman collapsed and died about 10 feet away from me and some friends. Paramedics arrive but they were unable and to revive her.

About 10 years ago on I395 in Connecticut and SUV in the left lane in front of me began moving into the right lane with a car there. So driver cut the wheel hard back to the left began to hydroplane, cut hard back to the right and then flipped about 5x ejecting the driver on the side of the road. When I stopped she was face down and motionless and I assume dead.

    Very siimilar story.

I was in the Kalispell (Montana) airport in 2013, and was just walking off the plane.

Some older (but not super old) guy fell down, and I saw it from a distance. I walked over there, and he was on the ground, looking purple. Like fully purple. The dude looked about 60 and was overweight. He wasn't moving. 100% I thought he had a heart attack and was either dead or about to die.

Felt bad for him and whoever he was with, but I tried to put it out of my head, and went to get my rental car. Was waiting for the paramedics to rush in at any moment, and for him to possibly be brought out in a body bag.

Took about 20 minutes to get the car, partially due to some fail. I then loaded it up, but noticed I had to piss, so I told the family I would be right back, and ran into the airport. I was shocked when I saw the guy walking out, with only a little assistance of two other people making sure he didn't fall again.

Dude went from purple like Barney the Dinosaur and not moving to walking out under his own power. Amazing.

Oddly enough 2 at different theme parks....not 100% they died.

First one, me, my bro and friends had just ridden the devils hole, a ride that spins really fast and the floor drops out....centrifugal force keeps you stuck to the wall.

I was dizzy afterwards so I was watching from above as some of them rode again, next to my bro was an older man riding with his kid or grand kid. I see my brother looking at the guy my bro had a confused look on his face. At the end of the ride the floor comes back up and the spinning slows down. The older guy slumps to the ground and everyone is kicked out of the ride.

My bro said in the middle of the ride the guys nose stated bleeding, and the drops were splattering on him as the ride spun which why bro had a weird look on his face. Heard about a guy dying at the park but I’d like to think it wasn’t that guy.

Second guy, I was working at a theme park and was walking out via an employee exit, they had a guy splayed out on one of the employee picnic table and it looked like he was about to get the shock paddles...I got the fuck outta there. Turns out a worker I knew found the dude dead on the toilet in a nearby bathroom.

At a young age, I witnessed a murder of a family member. No, I am not Batman. But there is still some lingering PTSD from that which will probably last forever.

Other random deaths pale in comparison I guess. I have seen a couple fucked up car wrecks though.

yes i do, with my wife and kids only. Its crazy the really dangerous stuff we do when young and "invincible, this all could have happened to me, I was just lucky i guess. even still a good friend (older fellow) died while skiing last year at a local ski area heart attack. I think they hide the true death toll as best they can so not to scare off more timid people. but ya its real dangerous even now with mandatory helmets.
the most scary is a "tree well" or hidden creek bed like drowning but takes a lot longer many people have died or near death experiences in these. Im glad i survived those days to have a great family.

WHAT IS A TREE WELL HAZARD?
Tree wells are dangerous due to snow-immersion suffocation (SIS). A tree well forms when snow accumulates around the base of a tree, but not under the lower branches or around the trunk. This results in a hole forming around the base of the tree, which gets progressively deeper as the snowpack height increases. Often times, a skier will fall and wind up head first down a tree well. If there is snow on the tree branches, the skier’s fall and contact with the tree will often cause the snow to fall down on top of the skier and bury them in the hole. This snow, much like an avalanche, can trap the skier and leave them without fresh air to breathe, thus leading to suffocation.

Most tree well/SIS accidents have happened during or just after big snow storms or storm cycles. In general terms, the more fresh snow, the higher the risk.

Eh, I was 4 at the time, didn't know any better then and probably just assumed its normal to see people get shot. Wasn't really until teenage years that I realized that it was, in fact, not a normal thing.

It was a big regional story, front page of the papers type thing. Not going to link to it, im sure there are still a few retards here so not looking to doxx myself.

But yeah, now its more like a weird side note to my life. Actually don't like mentioning it IRL, cause people then have to go through the "OMG that's horrible, so sorry" empathy train, which really kills the spirit having beers at a bar or something.
