Someone Died Right in Front of Me

I’m at work tonight (blackjack dealer) on a table facing the men’s bathroom. Man in his mid 50s collapses right in front of me, coming out of the bathroom. EMTs tried to revive him and but he was gone. Pretty fucked up to watch.

Have you ever witnessed someone die right in front of you?

Have had a bunch of friends die... but in front of me 3 all skiing accidents

my friends wife in a heli ski avalanche

my friend fell at high speed trying to avoid collision with other skiers coming around blind corner whistler.

my friend died while in whistler back country skiing fell from 3oo foot cliff while trying to traversing narrow ledge he survived fall but died not long after waiting for rescue no cell service out there, his wife stayed behind while we went for help, very sad situation. I pretty much stopped back country skiing after this requested from my wife.

had four friends all die in the same avalanche on a cat skiing trip. Neilson BC

    Jesus. Do you still ski?

I skied last winter for the first time on real shit (if Oregon counts, previous was just bunny shit in Virginia) and loved it but couldn't shake the feeling of how dangerous it was that a complete noob like myself was just fucking around on blues and greens with no real clue.

Surprised there aren't a lot more fatalities every year.

Kid died in a soccer game I was playing in.

Refs and facility people sucked and basically did nothing but keep us all away while they waited for ambulance. Prob coulda saved him if they had defibrillator or trained staff.

The reason all workers deserve a living wage is because all workers need to be alive. Not very complex.

yes i do, with my wife and kids only. Its crazy the really dangerous stuff we do when young and "invincible, this all could have happened to me, I was just lucky i guess. even still a good friend (older fellow) died while skiing last year at a local ski area heart attack. I think they hide the true death toll as best they can so not to scare off more timid people. but ya its real dangerous even now with mandatory helmets.
the most scary is a "tree well" or hidden creek bed like drowning but takes a lot longer many people have died or near death experiences in these. Im glad i survived those days to have a great family.

WHAT IS A TREE WELL HAZARD?
Tree wells are dangerous due to snow-immersion suffocation (SIS). A tree well forms when snow accumulates around the base of a tree, but not under the lower branches or around the trunk. This results in a hole forming around the base of the tree, which gets progressively deeper as the snowpack height increases. Often times, a skier will fall and wind up head first down a tree well. If there is snow on the tree branches, the skier’s fall and contact with the tree will often cause the snow to fall down on top of the skier and bury them in the hole. This snow, much like an avalanche, can trap the skier and leave them without fresh air to breathe, thus leading to suffocation.

Most tree well/SIS accidents have happened during or just after big snow storms or storm cycles. In general terms, the more fresh snow, the higher the risk.

About 10 years ago on I395 in Connecticut and SUV in the left lane in front of me began moving into the right lane with a car there. So driver cut the wheel hard back to the left began to hydroplane, cut hard back to the right and then flipped about 5x ejecting the driver on the side of the road. When I stopped she was face down and motionless and I assume dead.
