Right after that, this article appeared on dailyvoice.com:

A distraught man jumped to his death Friday morning from the 28th floor of a Bergen County high-rise overlooking Manhattan.

The 32-year-old jumper at Winston Towers 200 in Cliffside Park landed near the pool at 100 Winston shortly after 11 a.m., responders said.

Paramedics made the pronouncement.

The Bergen County Sheriff's Bureau of Criminal Identification was called to collect evidence. The Bergen County Prosecutor's Office was notified.

Marafioti is 33, not 32, but it's very likely that the reference above is to him.

It was assumed that Marafioti was dead 5 years ago, when he vanished without a trace for over a month. However, he reappeared, though seemed quite mentally ill.

His last tournament cash was in July 2016, just a month before that disappearance.


In the early 2010s, Marafioti made headlines as a brash young poker pro who was often controversial on social media, including some very public breakups with then-poker-pro Lauren Kling.

No, the guy pictured was the one escorting Marafioti to the apartment in question. Matt posted a pic of him, implying the dude was going to either hold him prisoner or make him disappear.

It is likely that this guy is simply a family friend attempting to help, and that Matt was simply nuts. He also posted about people trying to kill him, leading up to his 2016 disappearance.

That’s the man who was going to abduct him. I don’t know if you’re joking, but I read title and went holy fuck did MM go to shit before reading the captions.

A year off, a floor off, but has to be him. Too much of a coincidence. He was always off, but clearly he must have have been a schizophrenic or something? His behavior went beyond eccentric to deeply ill. Those guys who are assholes when they appear like normal cocky assholes and end up being mentally ill often have the roughest go, because people already don’t like them.

I grew up with a dude who acted obnoxiously like him as a young dude, and didn’t get an ounce of sympathy until like a month before his early death when he was convinced every person was trying to abduct him and kill him.

In MM’s case, he was always kind of delusional about his ability. He was very good from what I recall, but thought he was Phil Ivey, so later behavior just looked obnoxious until it passed into something is very wrong territory.

Matt's got a YouTube channel with a bunch of voice recordings with his kid's mom and maybe others, I only listened to 1. Felt dirty, turned it off.

I know Cliffside Park/Ft Lee and that whole area very well

in fact 2007-2010 when at Rutgers-Newark my best friend growing up lived in Ft Lee actually. I'd go to and through Cliffside Park then, its not a very nice area. Its up on the hill along the Hudson River and called Palisades Park. But that area is on steep hills which are sort of rocky in a way, so Cliffside park up on the palisades on the Hudson river overlooking Manhattan isnt bad, but its also got some seedy people as well. And it is North Jersey, so there really is some bad guys, mafioso whatever you consider organized crime. So who knows what precipitated this whole series of events, if it actually was him. It wouldn't be too shocking a younger loud mouth poker pro, found himself on the bad side of some organized crime type stuff, in Cliffside Park NJ. That would be a place, that does exist of course in that part of North Jersey to some extent. But who knows, and you hope this is just a coincidence

I dont follow poker gossip and have no clue who that guy is. I image searched and still no clue. That being said, damn he went bald fast. Seems like he wet full head of hair to nothing overnight.

I have been on a slow burn of thinning hair and receding hairline for seemingly 15 years. But it is really gotten noticeable the last couple. Really debating whether to go the Dan Neg. hair transplant route, Minoxodil, or just say F it and let it go.

If I was single and/or had a job where my looks mattered I would probably go transplant for sure. But neither is the case, so probably will just do nothing.
