    HBO: Woodstock 99

    The day the 90’s died

The anger, the violence, deaths and sexual assaults that occurred during the weekend are revisited by the ESPN 30 for 30 guy.

    We will be discussing this.

I saw a quick line in Variety that described the “Girls Gone Wild” commercials that used to run that year quite normally. How different our sensibilities were. How that kind of rage in music and in the crowd could only have occurred in the late 90’s.

You guys destroyed Naomi Osaka for me. Couldn’t watch two more minutes of it. You were right.

Woodstock 94 had its problems, and then somehow they made it much worse five years later.

Even the WSOP isn't that incompetent.

The original Woodstock also had loads of issues, but became immortalized over the years as a life-changing and iconic event, so much of the fail and dangerous conditions were forgotten. What you don't learn, you're doomed to repeat.

If you see old footage of the original Woodstock, stop and consider that the carefree 18-year-old hippie chicks in the audience are now 70.

On of my many regrets in life was turning down a last minute invitation to this. I can't remember why I turned it down but it probably had something to do with the fact that the group were the exact stereotype this movie portrays, fun to party with for an evening but I probably would have lost my mind spending a week with them (think typical football jocks who run the school). As an aside one of them nearly died a year or two later after he feel through the ceiling window of Western University. Only reason he survived (with brain damage mind you) was that he was built like a tank.

I went to Family Values tour '99. basically same thing but in a stadium. Limp Bizkit headlined. Group of like 12 of us went, one girl got too high/drunk and passed out on the floor. One of my dude friends caught a black eye in the pits. I had fun.

    Different era.

Primus was legit awesome to see live. Everything else was pretty forgettable nowadays.
