we are definitely at that point where the poker personalities we used to give a shit about are going to start to dropping dead in earnest.
"Birds born in a cage think flying is an illness." - Alejandro Jodorowsky
"America is not so much a nightmare as a non-dream. The American non-dream is precisely a move to wipe the dream out of existence. The dream is a spontaneous happening and therefore dangerous to a control system set up by the non-dreamers." -- William S. Burroughs
I remember him on TV like 2005 or so. Seemed like a good guy. I read he was a party animal and a great golfer. I believe he was a parent was well. Seemed like a good guy. Also by his twitter feed a conservative, so I am sure half this site hated him. RIP.
Yeah, start buckling up if you mixed in years of blow and pills.

I know Layne Flack was a former alcoholic and drug abuser.
He may have also had a medical condition that he was unaware of. Most poker pros have a bad health care plan.
Bottom line, nobody really cared. He was broke, living in a cheap apartment. Out of money. Deeply in debt. I'm sure some people though he should get a job and become a regular person in society. Instead he is dead. Now the poker will unite and pay for his funeral. And pretend that they give a shit. Bravo.

rip but hey we still got scotty nguyen so we gucci
No. It's a guess and probably good one.
Except, I think Layne owned a house in Las Vegas.
Daniel Negreanu once paid $60,000 for Layne to go to rehab. It's hard to quit alcohol and drugs for good.
Layne had poker tournament winnings of close to $5 million. However, he was staked most of the time. That Las Vegas lifestyle makes it easy to spend money.
I'm sure Brandon and Druff know some real good poker stories about him.
R.I.P.
He kept in pretty good shape for someone having those hobbies.
RIP early boom God.
We all go sometime...
It was reported a number of years ago that Layne Flack was broke, doing drugs, living with a girlfriend in an apartment. He did own a home for a while but sold it and was renting again.
12 years ago, Layne Flack was suppose to be on the 2009 NBC heads-up poker championship but at the welcoming party he got drunk and as he was driving home was pulled over for a DUI. NBC replaced him with someone else. Flack's career and personal life has been in a downward spiral since then. Layne Flack was a nice guy but in the end the demons got him. Live fast, die young.

Don't you believe everything you read on the internet?
One website claims Layne Flack has a net worth of $15 million. Another website says it's $1.5 million. Both are wrong.
Only the good die young except for Joy Kendra Miller.

Guy was a world class scumbag
There is a famous story ( cant remember the exact details) where he walked into a PLO game @ Bellagio and said like 10,000 behind and sent a runner to get chips. Went all in or something and won a big pot. Runner comes back with the chips and he was broke and could not pay for the chips
Also here he is running with Russ Hamilton right after the UB scandal. As the camera guy approaches he dips out
With that said this was the normal behavior back then and what gave all of these scumbags some mystique to the casual observer
I was contacted from someone in his family earlier and they gave me the news that he had passed away. He was one of the guys that I had gotten to know pretty well on a personal level over the past 10 years and it really hit home today on how fast this cancer shit destroyed him but he fought it off like a champ and did everything he could.
He was a guy who started off as a bottom feeder back in the glory days of poker and turned a small investment into millions and his character went from not so great to one of the best and most trustworthy guys that I knew. His generosity was second to none as he put me in several WSOP events ( even offered to put me in the 50k PPC a couple times!) and gave me a ton of advice that really helped me get better on multiple levels over the years.
With that said , one of the last things he asked me was when the time came that I make a thread for him and he hoped that everyone respected his familys privacy.
It's hilarious that we as a society think everyone can be a dr, a lawyer, an engineer. Some people are just fucking stupid. Why can't we just accept that?
