Hi y'all I played in a Venetian tournament in June. Knowing the end of the pandemic was upon us and seeing how incredibly vibrant Vegas was I went to the casino the day before, figured out the process and then entered almost as soon as it opened up so I had none of the registration issues described. However, I did find the rail situation somewhat strange and do agree it could be an issue for the players who were at tables up against it. And yes, there is smoking and slots on the other side of the rail. Because I sat in the middle of the room I was not bothered by any of this and have not one thing I could object to in my experience there. Nearby bathrooms, excellent table service, comfortable seats, nice tables and many nearby food options. I rate my experience 10/10.

It’s kind of “the thing to do” to complain about the Venetian and to praise the Wynn/Encore room. If a player says something nice about the Venetian on Twitter they surely will be attacked by the stupid mob and vice versa, if they say nice things about the Wynn. This is always something you have to account for with this criticism. I have recently gotten offers from the Venetian despite not gambling there for years. Yes, the comped nights are really $50 bucks because of the resort fees. But they are giving me better offers than the Cosmo, where I purposely did post of my -EV gambling for years.

Yes! I played the tournament and a short craps session there and recently received an offer for 4 free nights at the hotel. I have not been to the Wynn for several years and have no intention to now in protest of the poker room at Encore Boston Harbor being closed for no good reason. They had the best room in the East (better than Foxwood IMO).

I love how the inside voice came out on poker from Encore Boston: first, when they shortened the variety of drinks you could get at the table after like 3 weeks (and the service was lacking too)... then, they stopped tournaments (coincidentally a week before the pandemic) because they claimed "slot players were complaining there were no parking spaces (who plays slots anymore? lol)", and then after the pandemic and re-opening, they conveniently turned the poker room into a slot and video poker parlor. The EBHPoker twitter account hasn't said shit since March of last year, and quite honestly, I think the main goal is to turn that space into a sportsbook once it becomes legal in MA (my projections say it happens by 2023). Which is silly because having a sportsbook without a poker room in MA is clearly not liking money as the growth at EBH poker was clearly there and it would drive even more traffic to what is, IMO now, a dead space that is probably gonna sell off to Ceasar's or MGM in under 5 years (and the only reason it hasn't now is because Everett politicians whine about Wynn selling).

What Boston needs is a space a la Playground Poker in MTL, the Aviation Club in Paris (minus the tax evasion), and the rooms in Texas: rooms solely dedicated to poker. The growth is there and the tournaments at Encore grew up 4-10% each time they came around. But we sadly won't get it, a lot like how last call has been stuck at 1am like we live in the fucking dark ages.

I hope everyone boycotts Encore Boston and MGM Springfield, as I have. The Boston room was especially nice. One of the best. The MGM in Springfield was nothing special but special to me because I shacked up with a girl in Springfield for a time right as the place opened and could walk to it. Now there are zero places to play poker in Massachusetts.
