So, here's a perspective from 90 miles away from Havana. I have worked with many Cubans over the last 30 years. I have Cuban friends. We've had many discussions about the suffering the people have endured. Families were jailed or killed and had all of their land and other possessions taken away from them. One of my closest friends came here on a boat that sank and had sharks circling around her in the water until she and her family were rescued the the U.S. Coast Guard.
The Socialists in our government, Bernie Sanders, AOC and the rest of the Squad, along with BLM, often praise the Cuban government. This is what they want here. Bernie Sanders famously went to Cuba several years back and declared that the Cuban people have it really good. He said the Government is taking care of everything people need. He cited Health Care and medicine. Now this too has been exposed as a fallacy.
There is a reason why each year thousands flee the island on rafts and make shift vessels, toughing out shark infested waters to get here: Freedom. They don't have it. They desperately want to be able to live their lives as they choose. This has gone on for 3 generations. It's time for the Communist/Socialist regime to end - by any means necessary.
