More signs of the fail coming if ya ask me. There was the water main break a couple months back as I recall also at RW.

    BUMP

I was in Vegas this past week. Going to be leaving very shortly. I chose this week because of Resorts World opening, but I didn't stay there.

Was my first trip to Vegas since early February 2020.

I took a few pics and will post them later. The pictures shown below are media pics, and not mine. Here are my initial thoughts on Resorts World:

    1) Nice, modern looking property, but doesn't have any "wow" factor to it. (This was the same thing I said about Aria when it opened.)

    2) Nice views from the rooms -- at least the ones facing the strip. I visited someone in a Conrad Tower room, and then I also saw a second room in the same tower (more on that shortly).

    3) They have a weird but kinda cool display of different colored Rolls Royces right as you walk into the lobby. There are some other eclectic car-related displays around the property, such as a Volkswagen Beetle crushed into a ball.

    4) Speaking of balls, the most iconic feature of Resorts World is a giant red ball inside the property:

    5) The poker room is fine, but nothing exciting about it. If you get the Poker Atlas app, you can see the list of running games. As I type this, there's 30 tables running -- eight 1/3 NL, three 2/5, one 5/10, one 1/2 PLO, one 80/160 Mix, and "Crazy Mike's Game", which is some kind of weird mix game run by "Crazy" Mike Thorpe. They have a separate high limit room, just like Bellagio and Aria do, but this one doesn't have nosebleed games, with the 80/160 Mix and Crazy Mike's game taking place there. Last night I saw a 25/50 NL going, but right now it's not active. By comparison, Bellagio has 22 tables going and Aria has 19, so Resorts World is already leading, though as you can see, it's very 1-3 heavy, so there's more variety elsewhere. They do NOT have tableside food service yet, but there's a food-to-go place attached to the poker room. They told me they are planning upon doing delivery from all Resorts World restaurants to the poker world, but that's not set up yet.

    6) There is no entertainment set up yet, because this is only a "soft" opening. This was probably a mistake. It also made the crowd significantly older than what you'd see at the Cosmo.

    7) The huge high-end food court was interesting, but most are Asian themed, aren't familiar brands to Americans, and many have very similar offerings. I think that's a mistake. There is a Texas BBQ outlet and chicken outlet, and both are well liked thus far. Those also had the biggest line, which is telling.

    8) The sportsbook is underwhelming, especially compared to other modern ones like Circa. However, the guy at the counter told me that they take a lot of action, though he wouldn't be specific. It's rather small, though, and I expected more.

    9) There's weird art of birds hanging all over the ceiling. If you're afraid of flocks of birds after seeing a certain Hitchcock film, you won't like it.

    10) Parking is a clusterfuck. I got one of the last available self-park spots, and the lot is designed poorly to where it's not easy to quickly get to the ramp to ascend floors without doing a short "wrong way" drive, wihch a lot of people are doing. This results in a weird dynamic where cars are coming from two directions, trying to enter the ramp to go up, and it's chaos. The idiot designers were attempting to make you circle the entire bottom floor before going to the next level, which obviously isn't what people want to do, so many cut across the short "DO NOT ENTER" area to get to the next ramp. Fail. The elevators going down were also taking forever, so I just walked the 6 stories down to get to the casino.

    11) Major operational fail thus far. You expect this at a new hotel, but it's not going well. A restaurant there tonight is giving out free food to existing reservations (and reducing their menu) because of a computer failure. Tons of maintenance issues in the rooms. Remember I said I was in two rooms last night? The first had no working A/C, and it couldn't be fixed. This was a room on the 32nd floor, facing the strip, and the view was very nice. I helped my friends move their stuff to a very similar-view room on the 16th floor. I felt that view wasn't quite as nice (because it was lower), but at least that room had A/C. But guess what? After staying up til 5am, my friends got awakened at 9:30am by pounding on their door, with plumbers demanding entry. Apparently there was a "toilet" problem in other rooms, and the plumbers demanded access to the pipes in that room, even though the toilets there were okay. They had to let them in, and wake up tired. Awful. I'm going to try to help them talk to the manager tonight and use my Jew magic to obtain them a huge discount due to these fails, but still, I have to imagine these weren't isolated incidents. Glad I wasn't staying there.

Anyway, I'll post more about the place later.

We stopped there before our flight home yesterday as well, though we didn't have long to stay so we didn't see nearly as much of the property as you did. Wish I would have known you were there. We would have said hi.

    Notes:

-Parking for us was actually great, but only because there was a fence partially open on the 2nd floor of the garage that I don't think was supposed to be open, and it led to a lot that was barely half full. We simply took a left through that gap in the fence and found a spot right away. I think it was an employee area or valet or something.

-Agree with you about the older crowd, but I think that's on purpose. First off, Genting is a Malaysian company so I expected a heavy Asian theme. Also, because of it's location largely separated from the heavy pedestrian areas south and center Strip, it's not going to get a ton of foot traffic. (i.e. people are going to have to make it a point to go there.) They're not going to just wander in because they're passing by like they would the Cosmo or Bellagio.

-All kinds of beatable machines on the slot floor, with once again an emphasis on a couple of Asian-themed games. One of these games you can play for $3,000 a spin in the high limit room. (!!!)
Unfortunately, the RTP's are garbage. There's a certain machine that you can derive the payback percentage from just by watching someone play it for a bit, and we clocked it at 85% payback. This is what I feel is their biggest mistake. Since they're not gonna get that foot traffic I thought they might cater to gamblers a little bit more... I guess not.

Was in Vegas 6 days. About to bounce. I'll talk more about it on radio this week.

While here, I made the unpleasant discovery that I probably need another root canal, so that's depressing.

Played 4 sessions at Bellagio 40-80, and one short 20-40 session. Didn't do well. Guess my hot streak live dating back to 2019-20 didn't continue to 2021. Damn COVID.

Where do they get lists of people to invite to the opening night VIP party?

Most of the people there were "social media influencers".

The hotel looks nice but I would wait until they sort out there problems before you go. I don’t want to fight off zombie hordes just to get into the casino.

Looks like the upscale whores are invading.

What’s with all the dental issues? Pipes has never even had a cavity and obviously still has his wisdom teeth.

Folks, if you have your wisdom teeth removed, your instincts will become less refined

Anyways, Druff what’s with the dental issues? Have you considered brushing your teeth and using mouth wash?

Are you aware of the dental benefits of eating raw game meat? Yes or no?

Really please tell me your kidding?? Some people aren’t big mouths and have no room for them. Mine were impacted under my 12y molars they would’ve seriously fucked up my jaw and teeth had they not been removed.

Dental issues are somewhat hereditary. Some people are prone to cavities and other dental problems more than others. Unfortuantely, I landed on the bad side of that one.

However, this is more of a fuction of COVID. I had some cavities from 2019 which I was about to take care of in 2020, and then let them go because I didn't want to expose myself to COVID. I knew I was risking this occurring, but I preferred that risk over COVID.

Anyway, it turns out I may not need a root canal after all, and this may be an unrelated issue.

I "helped" a friend make a call to a Resorts World manager regarding all the fail. Read my OP for the description of what happened.

Anyway, they put me on the phone with a snooty "manager", whom I think is just a regular backend employee they designated for this role, since they have to be getting a million phone calls about discounts for the fail people experienced there.

The guy already had a chip on his shoulder from the start. Laughably, he tried to start off lowballing what my friend would get back, even though my buddy paid a shitload of money to stay there over the weekend plus another night. Then the "manager" tried to offer a comp for the final night, which made zero sense because the problems all occurred the first (far more expensive) night. Anyway, finally the manager backed down but refused to comp the resort fee for that night, which is LOL given that he claimed that night was now "comp". Finally he angrily agreed to take off the resort fee too, with a ton of disdain in his voice.

So my friend got a nice credit back because he received his most expensive night credited, but wow... tons of attitude on that call. I have a feeling the designated manager was already sick of taking these type of calls, and was in a horrible mood. Sure sounded like it.

I'm starting to think that this opening was a mistake, and they should have taken a bit more time to make sure everything was working. The whole place kind of has an unfinished look, in addition to the fail.

Oh, and LOL @ Grubhub. Wow.

It's owned by cheap Asians, what do you expect?

I'll stick with my comped Aria and Bellagio rooms thanks.

    Another RW fail:

Leaving after a poker session I wanted some food and most restaurants were closed. So i went to their 24 hour restaurant "The Kitchen" and wanted to order to go.

They said I would have to go through the "On the fly" app partnered w/ Grubhub and have it delivered to an area od the casino.....

I told them I was on my way out and didn't want to download an app....

I asked if I could "dine in" and I would eat my food there and order something for my wife (who wasn't with me) to go.....

*You can see inside the restaurant and the guest at their tables....i would guess maybe 8-10 tables were full and at least 3x that were empty......**

I was told I could do that, however there would be a 45 minute wait just to be seated!!!!!

What a dumb method to try and get a late night meal to go

    Completely idiotic.

This is what happens when they make stupid partnerships which end up causing more problems than they solve.

I'm assuming you were responding to strictly the to-go part, which is completely true.

The 45 minute wait part while appearing empty I ran into everywhere last week. I assumed it was just due to being short-staffed. Worst I encountered was at the Asian place at Southpoint. 2 of us wanting to get some happy hour while the others played table games. place was MAYBE 1/3 full. The entire sushi bar area was empty. 20 minute wait. Just lolz.

I felt like it was a hybrid problem of the casinos not projecting how busy it would be immediately after full-reopen mixed with people not coming back from unemployment yet.
