    Started off at midnight climbing under the best night sky I've ever seen, loads of shooting stars and galaxies in view.

    Most do Shasta in two days to get acclimated (camping halfway up on the mountain) as you start at 7,000ish feet and gain another 7,000 to the summit. I opted to do it in one push.



    Felt great until about 13,400 feet when the altitude hit me all of a sudden and I felt nauseous. Would have turned back solo but my partner felt good. Conditions quickly turned to hell and I literally crawled the final 50 feet to tag the summit. Descending was awesome as we were able to glissade 90% of it.

    Summit seen from road once I was down with shitstorm conditions still in place. Hardest climb of my life.

    Glacier National Park - a bit too much smoke and hard to fully enjoy with a three year old in tow but he rallied - could go on Druff-length hikes (>1 mi), was game to swim in thr lakes, liked sleeping in a tent, etc.

    I-90 through Montana was beautiful country, drove through patches of forest fire which was unnerving.

    Decided to spend this winter looking for a place that averages a lot more annual precipitation than the 16" my desert house gets. Ended up in the north woods with rivers, lakes, ducks, loons, geese, swans, ice fishing with tents to specialized travel trailers if the ice ever thickens. Boat docks are lit up to prevent drunk snowmobilers from hitting it. Leasing an off season vacation house till March.
