Mount Shasta from this Saturday
Started off at midnight climbing under the best night sky I've ever seen, loads of shooting stars and galaxies in view.
Most do Shasta in two days to get acclimated (camping halfway up on the mountain) as you start at 7,000ish feet and gain another 7,000 to the summit. I opted to do it in one push.
Felt great until about 13,400 feet when the altitude hit me all of a sudden and I felt nauseous. Would have turned back solo but my partner felt good. Conditions quickly turned to hell and I literally crawled the final 50 feet to tag the summit. Descending was awesome as we were able to glissade 90% of it.
Summit seen from road once I was down with shitstorm conditions still in place. Hardest climb of my life.
