Its pretty dumb. IIRC, basically Russia was doping up their athletes for years, and as a punishment "Russia" as a country is not technically represented in the games anymore, but athletes from there can still compete individually under this weird title.

Can't remember if thats permanent or just a suspension type thing.

Yeah that was a complete shit team.

US players made the decision that their lucrative MLB careers are more important than the Olympics, so we get the leftovers in the Olympics. Kinda sad, but we know what would happen if the US fielded a baseball team similar to what is seen at the All-Star game.
