If your going to use BTC to hire a hit man don’t use Coinbase.

That’s the lesson in the story of Nelson Replogle from Knox County TN. He attempted to hire a hitman to Murder his ex-wife when she was taking their dog to the vet. (Unknown if he wanted the dog dead also). He apparently went through a dark web site designed to connect hired murders and clients but in a weird twist the BBC got ahold of the information and passed it on to the FBI who in turn contacted the local Knox County Sheriff (who’s Mayor is Former WWE legend Kane aka Glen Jacobs). Originally Roplogle wasn’t considered as the suspect until the BBC handed over the wallet info which connected back to Replogle’s BTC wallet on Coinbase and his IP address.

Why do people think they can get away with this? They're almost always caught.

Friend of mine who's super computer savvy set up a hit man service a few years back.

He had no intention in following through, he was just ripping people off. Business partners and wives/husbands were the main clientele.

Banked over half a million in a short period. And quit while he was ahead.

BCR: Lol. I’d assume I was getting ripped off at minimum sending money anonymously for a hit. At minimum. I’d hope they’d just steal my money and not turn me in.

Now there is an example of scamming I really don't have an issue with. I would never do it, props to your friend for having some brass balls on him. Seems like the type of crowd I would be hesitant to rip off, presumed anonymity or not.

On the contrary, seems like the perfect demographic to scam. People who have enough disposable income to have someone killed, who are too chicken shit to do the dirty work themselves. And they also can’t exactly go to the authorities...

Not that I condone this sort of behavior.
