I ask this as I enjoy visiting there and stayed at a couple of the local hotels. I also enjoy the slightly higher elevation and less people in the area. If you look over some of Druff’s past posts, we both like Art Bell who was based In Pahrump.
As for the local poker scene, I don’t have anything to add, I’m guessing it’s minimal?
Lastly, the TV show Live PD has been filmed with the Nye County Sheriffs Department and the episodes have been interesting.
Whenever I see Pahrump for some reason it triggers an insta thought of brothels and the legal Nevada sex scene for some reason LOL . Isn't the Mustang Ranch close to there too lol..
Brothels are big there too correct and Kinda Known for the cathouses and all lol =) ???

If I remember correctly Brandon chugged a $1000 bottle of mcallen 21 and travelled to Pahrump and played a super deep game of .50 1. went all in every hand for 6 hrs straight and got comped the high roller room. I believe he also made mischief with a expensive painting in the room. Steve the body guard kept the rifraf away.

Pahrump has a couple of wineries. Pahrump Valley which has an attached RV park, and Sanders Family which offers free tastings.
Very pretty countryside. Worth a visit.
Nye County is also known for its lax gun laws and legalized prostitution.
If you want to see legalized hookers, you can't do that in Clark County.
You pass through Nye County if you go to Death Valley from Las Vegas.

Other notes- I know there is some new home construction in the Pahrump area, but don’t know the number of homes, growth rate, planning, etc.
The county seat is actually In Tonopah and so me people want to see it moved to Pahrump. (Politics, money, etc)
I don’t have any information on the brothels in Nye County, seems like they kinda faded away. I know the one just outside of the Clark County line, next to the general/store/Alien Jerky place and Area 51 is still open as I drove past it sometime last year.
Speaking of growth, I know the long time locals do not want to see the place grow and rather keep it a small town. Ofcourse local corruption is still there. And if anything does go wrong, they blame it on the California transplants.
Other than Art Bell, the only other celebrity there is Heidi Fleiss. Her laundry mat idea either failed or didn’t take off and she’s looking old from her last pic.

Lamar Odom's drug overdose (which nearly killed him) was at a brothel in Pahrump.
Nye County alone is larger than 10 U.S. states.
It's a 4 hour and 16 minute drive from Gabbs, NV (in the far northwestern part of Nye County) to Pahrump, and likely further than that to rural areas in the far north central and northeastern parts of the county.
Most of Nye County is closer geographically to either Reno or Ely than it is to Pahrump or Las Vegas. This is why no matter how big Pahrump gets, the county seat will likely never be moved from Tonopah, which is far and away the town closest to the geographic center of the county.
My girlfriend and I typically take a 2-week drive through Nevada in early summer and we stay at least one night in Tonopah. The stargazing just a few miles outside the town is unmatched and the Mizpah Hotel is a national treasure.

Ha, as I was reading your post, I told myself to write about the Mitzpah Hotel, but you beat me to it. I stayed there back in 2019 and it was nice. There is some old time charm, but it is also kinda creepy staying there as the place seems haunted. Now this place would be good for a Druff review, his take on it would be interesting. I think he would also throw the haunted flag as well.
I'll have to try this. I've driven through Tonopah but never stopped there.
Also- I very highly recommend lunch AND dinner at the Tonapah Brewing Company. The food there is Tier 1 for sure.
Also- As I’ve mention before on this board, any long drive across the a state, especially a less populated one like Nevada, AZ, Utah, etc, I very recommend rolling with a firearm. This is standard survival equipment.

I should changed the title of the post to rural Nevada locations. Last month, I stayed overnight in a newer part of Minden, Nevada. It was nice there, but I didnt get out and enjoy some local food. Last time I was there and had a local meal was years ago.
I was also in Ely, Nevada maybe 2 years ago as well. I do like the year round cooler temps at night very much.
