They've managed to ruin breeding, sales, and racing, all within a short time, which is a pretty big accomplishment.
It started with the raise in breeding prices for all but Buterin horses. They defended it by saying these were the intended prices all along, and the previous prices were a mistake. I actually believe that, but the previous prices were a happy accident, as they allowed more of a free market approach, which made a wider variety of horses viable for breeding. Now nobody wants to breed with anything but the top horses they can sort via third-party sites like hawku. Fail.
They introduced an exciting "tournament" where you have to win a certain % of races at your horse's most-raced lenght to qualify. Okay, cool. However, in order to do this, they removed free races with real $ prizepools (bad) and added a ton more free races (also bad). Why is the addition of more free races bad? Because now it's super-easy to tank your horses down to a lower class rating, by simply entering over and over into free races at lengths where your horses aren't good. They also DECREASED the number of pay races. Also bad. So guess what? Now every class -- even class 5 -- has only crushers in the pay races, and racing is no fun unless you have a top horse. Fail.
Sales have also cratered (as have the prices) because of the aforementioned issues above. Most won't buy a horse for breeding anymore (too expensive to breed), and most won't pay for a potentially good racer because racing is too tough. Fail.
What a mess.
