Vegas to return to 100% capacity opening on June 1... sort of

Steve Sisolak announced that the "goal" is to have 100% capacity in the state by June 1, but it could happen sooner. On May 1, the state will hand control over to local governments to determine what's best.

Clark County would then be in control of Vegas' fate.

Las Vegas is really looking to see conventions return, but that's not going to happen for awhile.

The 120-day thing is odd, because it requires a 4-month waiting period when COVID numbers are at acceptable levels. Why? Shouldn't it be near-immediate, because things can change so quickly?

Vegas is operating as a shell of its former self, without clubs, shows, and conventions.

I’ve driven through northern Nevada 3 times in the last month. Outside of Vegas and Reno, nobody is wearing masks. Absolutely nobody.

I hope so, the last few times I’ve been to Vegas the pokers been excellent but everything else sucked. One Friday night in Feb. the strip was empty by 11pm. I walked out of the Bellagio looking for something to do...nothing. No people to meet, no one to drink with. It sucked.

Since my call in on the show a few months back. I’ve had 3 friends in there 50s and 60s die from Covid complications. All were over weight and 2 in very poor health, life time of drugs and partying. It’s sad because the guy that got me in to MMA passed, that one hurt. He really did help me avoid prison and change my life.

I did get the vaccine because I’ve been playing a ton of live NL. I fly to Mexico in May, Vegas in June,July and august. I figured being that close to people for hours at a time It’s possible and likely Ill be exposed to a variant and get covid again.

I guess if I lived closer, a return to Vegas would interest me. I had some friends invite Wifey and me to join them on a Vegas trip next month. We passed. We have the Hard Rock here in Hollywood, Fl and the Baha Mar is a 37 minute flight away from FLL. Yes, I do miss playing cards at the Bellagio, but I'm not ready to sit on a plane for 5+hours wearing a mask the whole time. I have flown to Newark and it was about 3 hours and it was about my limit. I've already committed to running a Half Marathon race in Vegas next February, so I guess we'll see where things are at then.

Good to see that I'm not the only one on PFA that runs. It's the only way I can drink beer without getting super gordo.

I’m intermittent, I’ve had 3 knee surgery’s so it’s hit or miss. I really miss being able to run everyday. Honestly it’s the best way to see new cities and areas. I tell everyone running only sucks when it’s hard. After you build endurance it’s extremely enjoyable.

Are you a fast runner like 7 min miles? I’m lucky to log 10 min miles consistently after my last surgery.

Not all that fast. I am middle of the pack runner. I finish a HM in around 2:00. Sometimes under, sometimes over. But this distance is relatively new to me, as I have only run 12 races at this distance, all since I passed the half century mark. But, as you said above, a great way for wifey and me to see new places. Tried to do Nashville in 2020 and 2021 but cancelled due to Covid. Nashville may still happen in October or November. Florida is wide open and the live races have been going again since December. Got talked in to Vegas, because it's at night and I can gamble all day before hand.

I ran the full in 2019 and it sucked. Half course is great- all up and down the strip lots of crowds. Very flat. Full sucks as it goes way off, even loops through a parking lot. Blows.

Here's the thing- start is at 4? Maybe later. That means a whole day in Vegas with no drinky. The starting area is behind the PHo. Really easy to walk there in 15 minutes, so
no reason to get there early, though there is live music and whatnot.

Start is odd- a group every so many minutes regardless of starting corral. If you want to race, you have to crowd to the front or the course is too congested even with chip time. 5 abreast at the start, and I was in the first corral.

Anyway, have fun. Half course is a lot of lights, crowd and vegas fun.

They don’t do the full anymore it’s only a half now. 8 miles of the run is the strip can’t be mad at that

Are you going to look into Nashville in 2022? I’ve always wanted to go there it’s just never happened. 2 hours is a good time, nice job. Where’s the best place you’ve ran?

Nashville sent me an email that they are trying for October or November 2021. I will try and go if possible. Otherwise, it normally is in April. I've been to Nashville before and it's a great place to go visit and it would be awesome to race there. Grand Ole Opry is a must experience. Last year we even had tix to zee Zac Brown after the race. But COVID happened.

I've run in many cities, but not raced a lot outside of South Florida. I loved running in Vancouver, especially around Stanley Park. Greensboro, NC is a great place to run. So is NYC - Do the Brooklyn Bridge! The Florida Keys has a great 7 mile bridge run.

Outside the U.S., I've run on Virgin Gorda, in Mayakoba, and Los Cabos

Serious questions, why’s south Florida to you? Miami area or Tampa area? I generally get mixed answers from Florida locals.

I’ll tell my wife to check out orpy and see if it’s something she’s interested in doing. I talked to my wife we’re only doing the 10k. Still going to be a good time. Do you play poker a lot I’ll probably play at aria or Bellagio while we’re there.

South Florida is Miami area. Tampa is no where near South Florida, even though that is where the Fraudulently named University of South Florida is located. Tampa is actually Western Florida, located 2 hours due north of South West Florida (Naples Area). South Florida legitimately is Key West to Palm Beach. Anything north of Palm Beach County is no longer considered South Florida.

I like playing poker at the Bellagio. Back in the day (early to mid 2000s, the 15-30 limit games were the best). We probably will stay at the Aria. We like the Tower Suites with the computerized toilet/bidet. Great way to entertain oneself, while cleaning one's under carriage.

...does a thumb come out of the toilet and check if your butts clean after a washing to? Lol

Ive yet to stay at the aria, although I want to stay there bad. I love playing poker there but park MGM gives me comp rooms and it’s a short walk to the doors of arias poker room. Generally I just stay where every I get comp rooms. Since I did the diamond trick before the pandemic, I’m tied to caesar’s properties until 2022.
