Desert I believe this fire season is going to be the worst yet. I live in northern California. It's a war zone for fires.

With The power company doing more and more rolling blackouts to prevent fires from power lines . I got this last year.

Why do they do blackouts to prevent fires from power lines? Why can't they just trim the brush?

It's not just the brush is hitting the power lines, it's the power lines coming down during storms or high winds, and any sparks they cause lighting up half the state before the week is over. When entire counties are dry, cutting the power is drastic but effective, from what I read.

So I talked to the people who run the Jewish Space Lasers. They'll make this just an average year for CA, but if the Republicans try to recall Newsom, they'll hit you guys pretty hard. You've been warned.

Even the Dem’s are part of the recall effort.

Love the portable generators, I have 2- a Yamaha and Ryobi. I also see more blackouts here in Nor Cal as well and been prepping a family member’s property. I assume you might be close to me in Nor Cal?

Generators, flashlights, beef jerky, bug out bags, firearms- All part of a working system.

For portable power, I highly recommend the Jackery Power Bar. It’s small portable and charges by USB C, so I can use my existing multi cables and don’t need a special adapter.

In a nut shell, you’re correct, fire prevention, pre planning and fuel reduction are critical key points.

This could be a bad fire year, especially in southern CA, because it was a light rain season.

5.80 inches have fallen in the 2020-2021 rain season thus far. Normal rainfall by this point is about 13 inches.

2021 was only the second year on record (the other being 1964) where less than 0.01 inches of rain fell in February. February is typically the wettest month, averaging 3.21 inches. Interestingly, this has been a trend. In 2018, there was 0.03 inches in February, and in 2020 there was 0.04 inches in February. Also, in 2015 and 2016, there was less than an inch in each of those Februarys. In 2012 there was only 0.16 in Feb, and 2013's Feb saw 0.20. So of the last 10 Februarys in downtown LA, five times there was 0.20 inches of rain or less, and seven times was 0.87 inches or less.

The bad fire season in California tends to be from September through early November, as most of the rain falls in the winter.

In 2020, it was a mild fire season in southern CA because of the unusually heavy amount of rain that fell in March and April that year -- 7.35 inches in downtown LA, and substantially more in many of the outlying areas.

Since the same isn't happening in 2021, prepare for some bad fires.

Note that the historically bad 2018 fire season in California followed an especially dry winter like this one.

Wild fires are quick and deadly. We lost about 150 plus homes in about 2 hours. Winds were 45 mph plus.

If the power company maintained their damn wires and such a lot of this would be preventable.
