Question Last time you had Domino's Pizza?

I see them as always Tier 2 pizza, but still pretty good, will never be Tier 1 like Pizza Guys, Lamp Post or Mountain Mikes. Had them earlier this week, a medium combo type pie. Dominoes is always good when you have the pizza urge. Also, their wings are top notch and I would place them in Tier 1.

And their smart phone app is pretty good as well.

    Your take?

When my kids freinds are over they get dominos. The app is convenient and the pricing as as such to feed 4-6 people.

If it’s just the family I wouldn’t fucking dream of ordering this dogshit.

    Probably 10 years ago.

It's fine. In nearly every place I've lived/visited there are superior options.

Domino's is ok as far as chain pizza goes. Not good, not awful. As Sloppy Joe said, there is a superior option to Domino's in nearly every city.

You also have to watch out for their "specials", because a lot of them are bullshit and a horrible deal.

The $5.99 for a 2-topping medium is a good deal (and that has been around for many years), but you need to order 2 pizzas to get it, so not a good option if it's just for you.

The $7.99 carryout "large" is also a good deal, but be aware of the fact that the large is only 14", and the medium is 12", so you're not getting that much more. FYI, a 14" pizza is 36% bigger than a 12", while a 16" is 78% bigger than a 12". The 16" at Domino's is called an "extra large", but it's rarely on sale.

Never pay normal menu prices at Domino's. Way too expensive for what you get.

The best deal I see these days, which comes around occasionally, is 50% off menu price. That's a great deal because you can get whatever you want, and the deal covers it.

Benjamin really likes Domino's, so I was getting it for him (prior to the pandemic), even though I think it's just ok.

Probably at least 10 years ago. It’s not a a good a Papa John’s as far as big chains. As others have already mentioned there are much better options in every city. The best Pizza I have ever eaten was at a place called “Replay” in Milan. Awesome Prosciutto de Parma on top!

Anyway, back when I was in College at UF, Domino’s had a 30 minutes delivery or it’s free. My friends lived on the top floor of Beaty Towers (I think it was 12 floors up). We would order and then 20 minutes later call both elevators up to the top and lock them there for the next 11 minutes. We figured if the guy ran up the stairs to make it, we’d pay and give him a decent tip. If not, free Pizza. Domino’s eventually got smart and said it was 40 minutes to the lobby and to meet them there. In retrospect, I know that was pretty dooshy, but we were young drunk, high and stoopid back then.

This is information you should probably keep to yourself if you ever want to get laid without paying for it.

I wonder if when things get "back to normal" everywhere in America post-covid, if these big pizza chains are going to take a hit. Before, in many areas of the country, they almost had a monopoly on delivery food. Now you can get almost everything, as mom-n-pop restaurants have had to add delivery to survive. Most will probably continue to do so afterwards.

Outside of for kids (as was mentioned by others earlier) I don't know many my age that would order that over better local pizza options. I suppose the broke-college-kid market will still be there also.

    Two days ago.

Cheese pizza well done extra cheese and extra sauce

    extravaganza pizza is our favourite
ExtravaganZZa: pepperoni, ham, Italian sausage, beef, fresh onions, fresh green peppers, fresh mushrooms, and black olives — all sandwiched between two layers of cheese made with 100% real mozzarella.

nice very clean kitchen customers can see in great staff. consistently decent pizza. dough, cheese, sauce. happy to automatically add coupons then i give em a five buck tip works out even usually.

Ya there's better but this is close and i always pick up. the other ones are usually full of hipsters and really cool, interesting folks.... they don't bug me but am easily nauseated.

The Jew in me typically doesn't like delivery of food (in general) both from the financial standpoint and the control standpoint (you don't know when it's coming, and you have no power to correct anything wrong).

With pizza, the chance of it being screwed up is lower than with other food (because it's pretty simple), but I've noticed that the good pizza deals are usually carryout. I believe Domino's does have the $5.99 each for 2 mediums available for delivery, so I guess there's that.

But basically I also like having the control of when I get it, how fast I drive the food home (unlike delivery where there can be several stops before you), and of course, the ability to correct anything wrong.

So I just about never do food delivery. Doesn't appeal to me. Same reason I hate valet parking. I like having control of my own stuff.

Domino’s, Pizza Hut, Little Caesars and Papa John’s are all garbage ass pizzas but at least they are all making James Leprino rich.

Mass produced garbage. Basically the government cheese of HORRIBLE pizza. There’s a reason Domino’s has those deals and that Little Caesars is 5 bucks for a whole pizza. Yikes.

whenever a pizza thread pops up here, or even when I was posting pizza pics, I can;t help but think of marty and hutmaster arguing about "soggy pizza" and everything else under the sun.

haven't had dominoes more twice in the last 20 years. I'm fine with that pace, and I'm fine if it slows down, too. I won't suggest it, but I won't say no if that's what people are doing, but there's so much better pizza around me at all price levels.

Been probably 30 years. Even when I was young and broke, I found it the worst of the cheap chain pizza joints. I know they changed recipe some years ago, but still have never found any reason to try one with so many better options. Don’t imagine I ever will unless I’m stuck somewhere and it’s the only place open.

Pizza is one of those guilty pleasure food choices where you have to eat really well the next six days just to indulge. It’s like bad fast food. If I’m going to eat something shitty and indulge, it’s going to be something I really enjoy. I’m always going Five Guys before McDonalds or a great pizza over some chain if I’m going to eat garbage and have to spend rest of week making up for it.

Papa Johns really went downhill over the years.

I liked them a lot in the early 2000s. They were the best chain pizza place -- at least in southern CA. They were also a really good deal if you were willing to carry out and were good at searching for the Jew specials. Very often I'd get a large 16" for $8-$10, and it tasted really good -- or at least really good for chain pizza.

As time passed, the quality declined, and now they suck.

    Sad!
