I'm wondering if some element of blockchain technology can be used to detect deepfakes? We're already seeing how blockchain verifies the uniqueness and/or authenticity of NFT's, so combatting deepfakes would seem to be a logical extension somehow. An on-the-spot digital key produced by a real time recording (thru smartphone or other device) which is verified by external viewing software (Youtube or what have you)?

If a video is proven to be a "deep fake" to the public square apps like Twitter and Facebook should they pull it down? Druff you seem to have this positive outlook on society's intelligence and ability to decipher what information is reasonable and what should be ignored. When Newsmax and Oann start posting videos of fake Kamala Harris speeches to their older audience that has little sophistication in deciphering what is reality what then? Is that protected speech? Should there be a law against this?
