Basically it was three Chinese dudes, one of whom worked at the Encore Boston, who colluded to mark cards and beat the casino.

The scheme netted only $23,500, so it definitely wasn't worth the risk!

The dealer apparently looked at some of the cards (not sure how he pulled this off), memorized them, and marked a "bookmark" card so he knew when they'd be coming out of the deck. Then he somehow texted the order of the cards to his accomplices, who were in the bathroom. They would then come over and slam larger-than-normal bets on the hands which they knew would win.


In a separate incident (also in that same article), apparently two men were indicted for a stabbing in August 2020, taking place at the cashier. This was the second incident of violence in an east coast casino to come out now, which occurred in August. At MGM National Harbor, a man was forced at gunpoint to open his room safe, and then shot when he tried to run away.
