Sad news as an innocent pulmonary carcinoma died after a long struggle with Rush Limbaugh.
I was up and down the Alaska Highway 11 times back in the 70's and 80's. I would usually have a few beers in one of their licensed premises at night in whatever town I was in. The barflys in Canada loved to tell American jokes. Do you remember the old polack jokes? Well, the American jokes were just the same as the polack jokes except you change "polack" to "american" in the joke. They would take turns telling these jokes. I laughed right along with them so as not to tip my hand that I was American. I wanted to hear what they really thought of us.
It was quite the learning experience. I had never heard anyone ridiculing Americans like that before. Did they really think we were super stupid like that? I don't think so. I chalked it up to the Canadians having an inferiority complex where Americans are concerned.
