Movies that fell under the radar thread

We all get the Godfather, Star Wars (which was terrible btw) and Titanic. All legendary movies for many. But there were plenty that never got the box office acclaim. In this thread, we give it. So here you go.

This was a great movie, yeah it had its 1980s cheese factor, but it really was a good movie if you can remove the 3+ decade delay. Great scene, I'd watch it if I were you, Uncommon Valor.

    Wow. Nothing.

Can't remember the last time I've seen a thread be outright ignored on PFA, I mean even the dumbest ones get a Jussie meme or something.

Didn't think I'd see the day where you would have fallen off this hard, but father time comes for us all.

In the spirit of charity, here's some participation:

Tightly edited hitman movie where Joaquin Phoenix wields a hammer.

The Shrink: Great movie - interesting tidbit about Sleepers is that the screenwriter claimed it's based on personal experiences but that claim has been called into question (nothing to verify these incidents)

If there is a better year than 1994 I’m not aware of it. Even the shitty popcorn moves were better than average and the independents were awesome

And the fact that 1993 and 1995 were so god damn strong it just makes 1994 that much better.

My favorite period of movies by far

2007 is not the right answer for best movie year ever, but it had a fucking dynamite quartet of:

No Country for Old Men, There Will be Blood, Michael Clayton, and Zodiac.

If you've seen and liked any of the above four, I'm nearly certain you would like them all.

"Brain Donors", a comedy from 1992, was produced by the Zucker brothers, and was expected at first to be something big. However, the Zucker brothers left for another studio before it was released, leaving the film in production hell, and it ended up never being promoted. It ended up making less than a million dollars at the box office, and obviously lost money for Paramount, which left it for dead.

It was a funny movie, though, and deserved far better. If you liked the Marx Brothers, and wanted to see them updated to the '90s, you'll like this:

The correct answer is Idiocracy. Hilarious. Prescient. Sneaky clever. Should've been a blockbuster.

Ever see "Overnight"? It's documentary about the screenwriter of Boondock Saints. Fantastic stuff. Basically the dude went from rags to riches and became an insufferable asshole so his friends turned on him and produced this documentary to drag him.

Fairly sure i can find 10 movies i wouldn't mind re-watching out of every year in the 90s.

Just the last 3 years going by https://www.ranker.com/crowdranked-l...movies-of-1997 the first 10 for 97...

The Fifth Element, Starship Troopers, The Devil's Advocate, Jackie Brown, Donnie Brasco, L.A. Confidential, Con Air, Boogie Nights, Grosse Pointe Blank, Cop Land... finishing on top 29 and omitting Titanic, Good Will Hunting etc...

American History X, The Big Lebowski, There's Something About Mary, The Wedding Singer, Wild Things, Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, Half Baked, Dark City, Ronin... finishing on 42 and omitting Saving Private Ryan, Rounders etc...

Fight Club, American Beauty, Cruel Intentions, The Matrix, The Boondock Saints, Being John Malkovich, Dogma, The Talented Mr. Ripley, American Pie, Go... finishing on 42 and omitting Office Space, Magnolia, Eyes Wide Shut etc...

...i can barely come up with 10 movies that i would re-watch from 2010-2019 and Tropic Thunder(2008) is about the last comedy i would re-watch.

There was some shift in talent moving to TV-shows, but that can't really explain why the last decade of movies have sucked so bad.
