Perkins is a gambol loving WHALE and so imo, hes a good fucking MARK one way or the other actually. Now I haven't actually read much detail about this HU challenge im assuming its online, if so you can assume it isn't Perkins only your playing at that point. Beyond friends, software, PIO solvers, and blah blah blah. Who knows but reality is, this Tice kid might be good but Perkins is no dope and has a lot of poker minds around him and access too so IDK. But I also bet Dnegs to beat Polker @ 4:1 for $100 and lost lol... So who knows, but give me four to onw on Dnegs vs alot of people and ill take it for $100 lmao, and Dnegs lost, broke my heart.

Landon Tice is getting some hate from Jared Jaffee and others.

Basically some of the grizzled 30s/40s poker pros are annoyed by his spritely positivity and attempts to get attention, and they're bashing him.

I kinda see their point, but I don't agree. Something like a year ago, he was just a Joey Ingram fanboy who was helping Joey put timestamps on his shows (not joking). Then he worked hard to improve his game, went up in stakes, and ran up a bankroll. Good for him.

So the kid is enthusiastic and comes off a bit juvenile. So what? He's only 21. Let him have his fun. I think a lot of these players are just bitter and hardened by the stress and ups-and-downs of the game, and they just can't picture being overly excited and positive about poker at this point.

So in case anyone cares, this stupid thing started.

I've soured somewhat on Landon Tice since I made my original post, and now more side with those who find him annoying. I haven't had any interaction with the guy, and he hasn't harmed anyone, but his constant sucking up to the name pros for attention has become really tiresome.

But whatever. Let's cover this.

Recall they are playing 200/400 NL, and Perkins gets a 9BB per 100 hands refund.

He got shellacked on the first session at the beginning, came back, was up 100k, and then finsihed up about 18k, according to his own report. They played 623 hands.

After the 9BB/100, Landon was actually slightly DOWN overall, as that refund gave Perkins about $22.4k BACK.


Apparently they have some kind of agreement that they will switch tables and go back to 100BB when either of them gets to 300BB.

Someone on 2+2 is claiming that they heard Tice say on a podcast that he has only 10% of himself, and that backers (Matt Berkey, Christian Soto, and possibly Phil Galfond) have the rest.

Not gonna lie, I'm kinda rooting for Perkins to win here. While Perkins seems to enjoy attention just as much as Tice, at least Perkins brings a lot of generosity to the community (backing the Veronica Brill defense, for example), as well as action to high stakes games. Tice is just the "look at me" variety, and it's fitting that he fell in with the new agey psychobabble crew of Berkey/Soto.

If Perkins wins outright without the 9BB/100 head start, that will be hilarious.

This tweet is a bit confusing, so I'll clarify. He won big on session 3 (like 158k), then lost about 45k in session 4.

So far he's winning 8 BB/100, which isn't quite outrunning the 9 BB/100 handicap.

Berkey, who is one of the backers of Tice, cried foul that some ACR rep ("Mel") was asking him if any sportsbook was taking action on the match, because ACR was "thinking of putting a wager on".

Berkey's concern was that ACR itself would bet on one of the pahticipants, then rig the match for that person.

While I admit that's not the best look, I felt Berkey overreacted. This would be the dumbest rigging in history if ACR openly asked if a sportsbook was taking bets on the match, and then rigged it after that. If they were looking to rig, they would bet on it in secret, and then rig it so their guy won.

Also, it's pretty laughable that Berkey posted this, and then posted 12 minutes after doing so that everyone decided to play on ACR anyway. Dumb. Either move it off ACR because of it, or don't, but if you're going to come at ACR with conspiracy accusations, you need to also have the conviction to remove the match from there. Otherwise why bring it up?

More screenshots were posted, but they contained Phil Nagy's cell phone number, and Berkey got tons of shit for it. He removed that post. I'll assume that was unintentional.

Berkey took a good deal of heat for this on Twitter and some poker forums, with some people calling him a "douche", and others opning that they always found him insufferable. Ouch.

It was pretty close to right before the pandemic and I was casino hopping down the strip. I was staying at Planet Hollywood and decided to just play some 1-2 NL & drink a bit. You know, let whatever is left of my hair down.

I just play for fun nowadays and an older guy sat next to me. I think he was probably in his mid 50’s. I forgot what he did for a living but we spoke at some length and he even gave me his business card, which of course I lost. He was a good guy. You could tell he hadn’t played much poker by the way he handled his chips.

Anyways, he starts telling me that he signed up for the Solve 4 Why (Berkey/Soto) training course. He said that he had done the RFID training they had and enjoyed it. Of course the question that came to mind was how much he had spent on this training? He looked at me and said “Probably pretty close to 10K”.

That is going to take some kind of hourly in 1/2 to recoup that investment. I don’t know how good that product is they are selling. But I do think it is irresponsible to upsell an older novice that will probably play small stakes and just wants to know what he is doing to that kind of amount.

He was a nice guy and seemed well off. Found him very credible. I guess the point of the story is while Berkey claims to have more "business ethics" than most in the poker world, was it ethical to charge this guy close to 5 figures to go play 1-2 NL recreationally?
