Avoid offshore sports book BetDSI at all costs.

There's no sports betting section on this site, so I'll post this here.

BetDSI is a small offshore book that I believe used to be affiliated somehow with CRIS.

They sponsor a few contests on the sports betting forum Eye on Gaming.

    forums.eog.com

Despite only a C- rating on SBR, there were never any complaints about the site on that forum until the site recently stiffed one of the forum members out of an INSANELY small amount of money. (like, less than a dime.)

What's hilarious though was the reason they gave for stiffing.

After the weeks-long "fraud checks," the repeated demands for ID verification, and all the other usual bullshit that offshore sports/poker/gambling sites put customers through when trying to withdraw and still not getting paid, the forum member finally posted about it. The site moderator said he would step in and try and get it resolved.

Upon getting in contact with ownership, the moderator was told that the forum member had a "test account" that was eligible for deposits only, but NOT withdrawals.

    Wut?

I literally thought I had heard every excuse in the book for a site to deny a legitimate w/d. I guess I was wrong.

If you have any money on this site, I would try and get it off ASAP.

I read that mess of a thread. I was waiting for the other shoe to drop, and to find out that the "victim" was leaving out important details.

    Nope!

It really does seem they are trying to stiff him out of $900 because his "account comes up as a test account", whatever the fuck that means.

My best guess is that they define "test account" to mean "someone who makes a tiny deposit just to screw around and look at the lines, but isn't going to seriously deposit any real sum of money." So maybe the victim here ran up a deposit of like $5 to $900, and now they won't pay him?

    Whatever it is, it's bullshit.

Shout out to EOG staff member "John Kelly" for acting like a perfect shill for BetDSI, and trying to turn this around on the victim (without stating any kind of coherent reason, other than saying he doesn't like the guy's tone.)

In general, it's a huge mistake to bet on any book with less than an A- rating on SBR (sportsbookreview.com), even if the lines are soft and/or the deposit bonus is huge.

    UPDATE:

As of this morning, the situation is supposedly on its way to a resolution.

    http://forums.eog.com/index.php?thre...olved.7468333/

Basically I suspect that the folks at DSI saw the writing on the wall and realized the forum pressure wasn't going away. Of course the excuse is total bullshit, ("we entered an incorrect account number that came up as a 'test account'") but whatever...

Druff, since you brought it up, let me state a couple other things for the record:

I've been on EOG for years and I've always known John Kelly to be a stand-up guy and an all around class act. I've had numerous financial dealings with him related to various forum contests without so much as a payment that arrived 5 minutes later than he said it would.

Having said that, I was disappointed in aspects of his behavior in this situation as well.

What that tells me is that the financial ties between EOG and BetDSI likely go much, much deeper than contest sponsorships, and that admittedly puts John Kelly in a terrible position of possibly having to endanger one of his personal income sources to stand up for a forum member.

Definitely a bad look all the way around.

For what it's worth though, the new monthly contest that started today is simply titled "EOG's Grand Challenge." The mention of BetDSI as sponsor has been dropped.

Also Druff, since you read it a couple of theories have popped up in the original thread as to why DSI picked this guy to try and stiff. One poster claims that the OP has a nephew who stiffed several offshore credit books for 5 and 6 figure sums back in the day. I did a little digging and that appears to be an accurate claim.

Not that that excuses DSI's behavior here, but it's an interesting plot twist if nothing else.
