This slippery slope argument is horse shit. The Second Amendment, like any Constitutional right, is not absolute. If a compelling reason can be articulated for its infringement, regulation can be imposed. Some states like California are way too restrictive. We have to show ID to buy shotgun shells! Others are way too lax. In any event, anyone who has been to a gun show knows this country is an arsenal, and de-arming Americans an impossible task.

did you read the provisions? 24 hours of training, psychological examination, insurance policy, an $800 fee all required within 90 days of passage for existing gun owners plus many other provisions...seems like a law written to benefit head shrinkers and firearm trainers--the requirements are too severe to expect compliance nationwide

Every time there's a mass shooting the gun fags say it's not guns it's mental illness. Ok, here's a bill that will help keep guns out of the hands of the mentally ill. Unless the gun fags were lying and they just don't care about the mass shootings, which we all know is the truth.

They also want you to have to register and show ID to vote. Fair enough. Register and show ID to get a gun too.

You obviously have no fucking clue what’s required to purchase a firearm do you?? You do already have to show ID to prove who you are then you have to clear the FBI National background check which looks for disqualifiers including any felony, domestic violence history, mental illness history. This bill is a pile of shit. The requirements already are there. When the system fails it’s usually because some idiot didn’t do their job like the actual federal government who failed to file the reports on the Air Force member who had been invol committed and yet was able to purchase a firearm. The shooting in Sandy Hook was due to the mother of the shooter allowing him access to the firearms when she knew damn well he had no business near them so she was to blame in that regard. The firearms background check system works perfectly fine when it’s run properly and such sometimes too well as it can and does delay some purchases due to flagging of people with similar names etc but better to be safe then sorry.

Those ID-and-background checks only apply when purchasing from a licensed firearms dealer. They are NOT required for sales of guns by private citizens. And because private citizens can do so at gun shows, this gap in the law is frequently referred to the “gun shop loophole”, which Republicans have repeatedly blocked from being closed by reforms to the background check process.

Soo, I am going to be honest here.

I don't think guns belong in society beyond Professionally trained or pretty close individuals. I was in the ARMY so I have shot some of these heavy weapons and for me, I think what natters most is the person holding that gun. I if I could, I wish we could make sure the ones holding them guns are out best....

Its been a few years but I actually was an Infantryman, and I Have shot half these weapons probably, from the M50s to the M2459 etc....
