I don't know about shot but it is definitely illegal and people should go to jail.

The problem is no matter how much money is stolen or disappears, or no matter how much the economy or the other side of the transaction gets fucked over, white collar crime PAYS and very rarely results in any serious punishment. Tossing a few of them in federal pound me in the ass prison for a decade or longer would send the right message and perhaps rein in the most destructive tendencies of these assholes.

This is because the corporate media are wrapped up in the same interests as these assholes, at least indirectly. And that's across the ideological spectrum of networks.

Dianne Feinstein, one of the most outwardly corrupt POS in the Senate, had her husband get caught with insider trading. She literally said it wasn't a biggie, and they'll just pay the fine. JP Morgan CEO Jamie Dimon also bragged about this when Sen Warren threatened to bring down more regulation.

Maybe if the criminals can just pay a measly fine that doesn't dent their bankroll... its almost as if its not a big enough punishment to deter the behavior.

Maybe I should buy stock in a guillotine maker next

I lived through the late 90s and the aftermath in the 2000 scenario. I saw stocks go from $7 to $70 in a morning. I never caught one on the way up, but I caught several on the way down and lost a ton in my early 20s. This never ends well for the small guy, it just doesn't. A couple hedge funds got clipped in January, but they will juice the baseball and make sure it does not happen again, at least in the short term. Stay away from this wave. If you were not in early on meaning a long time ago, you missed this one altogether. It's over. Unless you are looking for action with a huge bankroll, then I guess its worth the risk.
