Druff, the issue with how religion affects such issues as contraception is lsn’t about how many religious people currently approve of it, but whether the religious people who do object to it have enough political power to affect how easily women can have acess to it. And hyper-religious rightwing Christians control the GOP and were able to get their President to limit the availability of contraception for women vis-a-vis their healthcare insurance coverage.

So who gives a fuck if “most” religious people approve of contraceptiom. The ones who matter here are the religious people who oppose it AND have sufficient political power to fuck with the lives of others by making it prohibitively costly for many of those who want affordable access to that family planning option.

Do I think believing in God is actively harmful for the majority? No, at least not in stable countries.
I think it's probably neutral for a slim majority, beneficial in ways to some and actively shitty for the rest.

This is a huge problem with religion and the reason Republicans love it so much. It makes people willing to swallow the craziest batshit beliefs and put their money, mind, time and even lives on the line in service to the deity who of course never talks and makes his wishes known through a self-interested human leader. It's a brilliant setup that developed organically in ancient times and more recently has been deliberately exploited. Hubbard stated it explicitly when starting Scientology. No better way to get rich and powerful than by starting a religion, if you can make it catch on.

I have always believed in a higher power and have been witness to many unexplainable spiritual occurances as a nurse. Until a few years ago, it was a distant belief. I knew people that had a personal relationship with God/Jesus but never experienced that.
All I know now is something changed, when I asked for help from despair, I received it. I get that people are like well good for you after almost 60 years, fuck off. I say if someone so ingrained in crutch living can receive that grace, it IS.
Is there a lot more to fix, oh ya, We are working on that.
All I know is I used to face the day with anxiety, fear, addiction.
My everyday now starts and ends with peace.
God is good.
