Shane Sigsbee describes himself as a professional sportsbettor and poker staker. I've heard of him before, but don't know much about him. I had not heard of Jon Martinelli.

In case you're wondering, Sigsbee was simply reporting this, and was NOT involved in the bet.

Basically Martinelli took part in what is called a "vig free chat", where trusted sportsbettors bet on opposite sides, without having to pay the normal sportsbook vig of 10% or more. That's a great idea, as long as you can find action AND trust the person to pay.

Sigsbee is accusing Martinelli of taking $500k of such action on Ohio State in their game against Alabama on January 11th. When he lost, Sigsbee claims Martinelli simply stated he couldn't pay and didn't have the money -- making it a premeditated freeroll. Sigsbee further claims that Martinelli did it to help his brother -- accused of murdering his 7-month-old son -- with legal expenses.

    Really bad, if true.

It happened - people vouch for others in the thread. They solicit offers in the thread but all transactions are done in DM. Settle up after the game or on Monday.

So Druff, I can vouch for you up to 20k, welcome to my JF thread.

They put on a sheet that Sidewinder vouched 20k for Druff

You want KC in the superbowl and ask to be DM'd offers.

In the DMs (where no one can see wtf is going on). You bet 10-15 coins with various people on KC.

    KC loses.

    You don't pay.

No one has a clue what happened until it's over because everything happened in DMs.

I owe 20k to be chopped up to everyone that was scammed.

This happened and I think it was remedied by a minimum 100k hard vouch.
