Mayor Pete has been a tremendous failure as Transportation Secretary. Dude has no idea what he's doing, and it seems he's too busy posturing for the cameras and thinking about his next Presidential run to really care much about the job itself.
Remember, Petey was appointed to this position because he was willing to abruptly drop out and endorse Biden. It was all part of the DNC's strategy to fuck Bernie, who was ahead at the time in 2020, and hand the nomination to Biden. It worked, so this position was his payback.
Petey, being young (then 38), knew he had a lot of time, and he had no shot to win in 2020, so he happily stepped down in order to get a foot in the door later.
The big problem with his Presidential aspirations is the black community. They make up 24% of the Democratic Party, and he literally gets 0% support from them, because they don't want to vote for a gay President. There's still a ton of homophobia in the black community that nobody wants to talk about. When you hear about gay black men "living on the DL", that's what it refers to.
Pete will never overcome this. Maaaaaaaybe in like 20 years if the black community becomes more gay friendly, but not anytime soon. The field is just too crowded in primaries. You can't win when 24% of the voting population is automatically going to support someone else.

There was a lot of talk about him getting fucked in 2016, and in a way he did with those rigged debates, but the truth is that he was never anywhere near Hillary in polling. He was destined to lose no matter what.
But in 2020 he was the clear leader through late January, and then the DNC panicked and conspired to fuck him. Even Obama got in on the act, despite Obama's own personal distaste for Sleepy Joe.
The DNC saw Bernie as not one of them. He was a socialist who thought he was too good for the "D" label, so he's long been listed as an Independent, but then runs for President as a Democrat. The DNC resents that, and they also think he will lose a general election because he's extreme. (The truth is that he might have beaten Trump anyway, because Trump had a shitload of baggage.)
Anyway, the super corrupt and undemocratic DNC decided Bernie wasn't going to be their nominee, so they rigged it right before Super Tuesday. This was as close as you can get to a rigged election without actual manipulation of votes.
If I were a Berniebro, I'd have been screaming bloody murder, and vowed never to vote Democratic again. But few did. Because Orange Man Bad and all that. So they became the DNC's bitch, and even Bernie himself came around to endorse Biden.
I did enjoy the tears of the lefties who realized all of the above, and who spent their entire lives thinking it was the Republican Party that was corrupt and against the will of the people. Whoops.
