indeed, the code could become so simple an organization that practices non-merit based personnel advancement policies (such as the IRS) can enforce them...but no, won't do that because that would cut off campaign contributions needed to get congress elected-- the code is shot full of loopholes and complications for that reason.
btw--ordinary wage earners who rent or own their homes are already have their income tracked effectively by reporting/matching of W-2's, 1099's, Mortgage interest, etc...it's the self employed, or persons with flow through income (partnerships, trusts, sub-S corp, etc) that the new auditors will go after--areas of the economy that have been receiving lax enforcement of tax law for the last decade.

its for the CID, Criminal Investigation Division, which participates in drug bust along with ATF & DEA...an IRS CID auditor is often present to close out / file a tax return for those busted by DEA..it's not to have tax auditors pull a gun on you during an office audit.

Let's not forget that Biden also wants banks now to auto-report any account with more than $600 worth of transactions PER YEAR going in or out to to people or businesses. This includes both personal and business accounts.
This will not involve any forms. It will be invisible to the customer, but will be a massive data collection on spending/money transfer of nearly all Americans. The IRS will be able to crunch these numbers and target people as it chooses. Also, if this database ever gets hacked (which isn't unlikely), then the hackers will have an exact picture of spending and money transfer habits of nearly every citizen in the US.

Well because those low-income folks prepare their own returns usually and they often claim/calculate credits/breaks wrongly (earned income, child care, head of household, dependent exemption etc) --the rules are too complicated for them to understand/apply correctly (they prepare their own returns because they don't want to pay a preparer) -- the result is refunds/money given to those that don't qualify...Congress needs to find another way to distribute social welfare benefits instead through the tax system.
