OR IS IT YUM BRANDS NOW UP IS DOWN LEFT IS RIGHT
YUM bought Habit Burger a year ago: https://www.forbes.com/sites/aliciak...it-restaurants
Habit was known as a higher quality burger place, which both had some unique burger/chicken offerings, and strived to serve higher quality food that typical fast food burger places. As the article mentioned, it rapidly grew in popularity in the first half of the 2010s, but started to slip somewhat in the second part of the decade.
I can tell you as a formerly frequent Habit customer that they dropped the ball with customer service and quality control. What was once a tightly-controlled, quality-obsessed company (like In-N-Out), Habit stopped giving a shit and somewhat let the inmates start running the asylum.
After 10 years of going to the Habit frequently, I finally gave up on them in January 2020 -- coincidentally at the same time as the YUM acquisition. I started going to Farmer Boys instead, which is attempting to be their competition, but then the pandemic hit, and I quit doing takeout.
I was hoping that maybe the YUM acquisition would change things for Habit, but they're letting the same CEO run it as before, so I predict more fail. However, perhaps they're doing well right now because fast food has benefited from the pandemic.
In-N-Out basically has it right. They overpay all employees and each store manager, but in return demand competence and good customer service. They don't tolerate bullshit. They don't tolerate screwups. They don't tolerate rudeness to customers. The manager is basically expected to keep everyone in line, or he loses his (overpaid) position. This is a great model, because it prevents shit employees and managers (of which there are many in fast food) from running the show.
i will stan for the santa barbara burger at habit love a good sourdough avocado situation
but back on topic FIVE DOLLARS FOR A CHICKEN DILLA AT TACO BELL have i been in cryogenic slumber when the fuck did this happen its the worst quesadilla in the game hands down
I'll be honest, they have started letting a lot of their produce go to shit. They weren't like this in 2014 at their peak of success.
Just kinda seems like they don't care anymore, and when you complain, you encounter either indifference or pushback (usually indifference).
I had too many fails there in 2019, from both low quality/old food and bad customer service. Finally said fuck it and went to Farmer Boys going forward.
