As the world continues to fall apart, we'll all get used to this. They will happen several times a week and will be much smaller news stories unless at least 10 people are killed.
They are reporting at least 10 people shot, 2 dead. Some type of coworker dispute outside the empire state building. Others caught in crossfire.
Glad I decided not to go into work today!
People get shot every fucking day.

Chester is one fucked up place. Worse than 95% of anywhere inside the heart of Philly.
But yeah, people get shot all the time. It's these public shootings that are making the news, but people have been getting shot before I can even remember, daily...

I was going to Jersey over the bridge but decided I needed some gas, so I took the Chester exit. I got like a quarter mile in and noticed the Shell station was closed and its garage doors where it services cars were not only closed, but chained up.
Basically when you are in an area with gas stations closed and chained, you are absolutely in the wrong section of town. I did not have a GPS at the time and just kept getting turned around and took a street that just ended in debris. I'll never forget doing a 3 point turn to get out of there and some dude whom I did not see scream "HEY". I am pretty self sufficient and could easily beat down most people in a fair fight. But with the light on my gas tank blinking, white and no GPS, I was fucking nervous. Thankfully survival skills set in and was able to navigate out of there.
Good old Chester. The east side has always been bad, probably even before the 50's. I try telling people out here how the ghettos out here don't have shit on the north east. They just don't get it. Until you roll through a place like Chester, especially at night, you don't know ghetto. I had a couple friends killed up there during the late 80's. Both of them tried the old "take a taste, grab the bag and bail" routine, and got shot in the process. One in the head and one through the back window of his car, through the seat and into his lung. They found him slumped over the wheel the next morning. Both cases no one was arrested. Another friend of mine got shot through the side when he ripped off a dealer in an alley. He was such a fiend that while driving to the hospital he pulled over to smoke (he was into crack). This same guy is now a family man with a good job and good life. There is hope for people like Heeb after all.
Funny tidbit about Chester... Harrah's built a casino there because there actually is some decent waterfront property on the outskirts. They bragged about how they were going to revitalize Chester and create jobs. That was until they realized that over 75% of the applicants from Chester had a criminal background. So basically now that Harrah's is filled with people working there that are from everywhere but Chester. The thing about Chester is it's just not a couple blocks, or even a section of a city... It's pretty much an entire town that is just straight ghetto.

These are all the "it could have been me" shootings that fuck with Joe Public. Everyone can see themselves sitting in Batman or waiting in line for a tourist attraction. When 8 people get shot in Chicago this past weekend, people just chalk that up to the game and can't identify with the victims. The murder rate is like 60% of what it was in the late 80's, but there seems to be more of these random angry fuckers just being squeezed by life and mental illness going off.

Yeah, the killings are basically the same as they've always been, but now people are just killing randoms, which scares people and turns it into news.(worst run on sentence ever, sorry)

I cannot imagine a bigger shithole on earth than what I drove through in Chester for like 10 minutes at night. Like I said, the road I drove through to get the fuck out of there just ended in debris with the brick house where I did the second point of my three point turn just delapidated. When its midnight and you are white in a Navigator in Chester, lost, you have massive issues.
I told this story to my uncle who grew up a few miles from Caprini Green in Chicago and apparently that was a rough area before they took it down, never saw it. I dunno, I cannot think of a worse spot than Chester at night. Although he saw both areas in his life and said Caprini Green was worse.
yeah they tried to put the soccer stadium in chester too...yeah it's on the water, but no place youre gonna want to be late at nite...

I've been at the train station and the parking garage there many times late at night and made it out alive, so I'm going with Camden.
Riverside Delaware is arguably worse than both of them. There are parts of DC and Maryland that are equally as bad too. I do not miss the northeast at all mainly because of this element. The week I moved away there were 5 murders within a 5 mile radius of where I lived.
The eastern US has far worse areas than anything the west has to offer.
Compton is a walk in the park compared to some of the ghetto towns in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Maryland, Atlanta, and Michigan.
I hung out once in Compton, it was fine. By contrast there were bits of San Francisco that shit me up. Mind you, for obscure technical reasons I was the only white man on a bus, wearing a suit, and carrying a copy of the Financial Times.
Since no news outlet has made mention of the attackers race, this means it is pretty safe to assume he is black, right? If a whitey commits a gun crime his picture is 100% of the time splashed all over the front of the story.
