Braves reliever Tyler Matzek comes in with men on 2nd & 3rd and NO OUTS and proceeds to blow away (3 strike outs) the next 3 Dodgers hitters.
4-2
Knebel’s last pitch as a Dodger?
Jansen too
I carpet bombed every Braves angle. I may lose over 8.

Padres fans look for silver linings. Complete choke of a season, but at least we didn't mortgage 4 possible starters for Max. That save in Game 5 of the Giants series might be very costly.
Throw a few shekels on Dodgers +1000 to hedge. Cause I have PTSD
Hedging is a leak in my game.
Who you liking San World Series? I'm leaning Braves early. Need to see McCullers status..
I can't remember the last world series that I have cared less about.
Go Braves, I guess?
Matzek was excellent in the 7th. Great location of pitches.
With that said, the Dodgers were bafflingly bad at making something happen there -- basically just sitting and taking strikes over and over.
No idea why Steven Souza Jr was on the roster. He sucks. He has sucked since 2018. Why didn't they bring up Lux in this spot? Lefty/righty analytics nonsense again?
Blah
2/3 of the Dodgers' fortunes that inning rested with 44-year-old (yes, 44) Albert Pujols and terible Steven Souza.
Starting Buehler was also a mistake. So was pitching to Rosario with 1B open and 2 out. The guy has been killing it all postseason, especially against the Dodgers. If he scores from 1st, you're probably fucked anyway, so another base runner wasn't a huge deal.
I will say that the Dodgers did get screwed by this idiotic home field rule. The team with 88 wins should not be getting home field over the one with 106 wins. No way, no how. Not with a wildcard game which the division winners get to skip.
Braves played well and deserve to move on. Dodgers were too banged up. So be it.
I blame the entire thing on Wokeness causing Trevor Bauer to sit out.
Has any single sports franchise been screwed year in and year out for 2 decades like the Dodgers?
It is remarkable.
For some reason the 2nd & 3rd with nobody out in the 7th yielding no runs pisses me off more than anything.
Nothing unfair happened that inning. Matzek legit struck out 3 batters. But I'm still baffled how they send up Souza there instead of Lux, the latter of whom is supposed to be on the roster because of his bat.
I think the analytics brain trust overthought the situation and fucked themselves, simialr to what happened with Urias pitching the 8th in game 2. It's the equivalent of fancy play syndrome in poker -- something Phil Hellmuth has laid waste to in the 2021 WSOP.
There's also not much talk about this, but they mishandled Gonsolin during the year. He pitched great in 2019 and 2020, and he was really supposed to become a force in 2021. Then he got hurt, and once he got better, they just didn't have the confidence to really stretch him out as a legit starter. He was almost functioning as an opener, and yanked after 3 innings or so. Occasionally they'd let him go 5, but they'd always pull him, even if he was owning heads.
Well, guess what? He wasn't ready for the 2021 postseason, and they didn't trust him as a 4th starter, when they sorely needed one. So they decided to start Buehler on short rest, which has never worked out, and indeed it didn't.
Just a lot of little fails like these, which added up to a series loss.
