December 2020- Fremont Street Expereince turns 25 years old

Celebration delayed because of COVID, event to be announced.

    Some personal notes...

    - Back around 1992-1993, I was at my friend's retirement house in Vegas and the father told me about these new plans to "put a roof" over Fremont Street so people can walk all over. I remember thinking- I dont like this idea. But then I made a point to drive my car down it one last time and remember how crowded it was and slow moving. I hardly ever go down there back then anyways, so no big deal either way. Today I find the FSE fun and interesting to walk through.

    - I have been inside the Glitter Gulch establishment once or twice in the past, went there just to see it, nothing to rave about.

    - I remember siting in a movie theater in 1992 and seeing the trailer for the Honeymoon in Vegas movie showing Nicholas Cage running down Fremont Street. Thought that was interesting since I think my family drove it back in the 80s.

I saw it for the first time in the summer of '96 and thought it was pretty interesting. I was living in Albuquerque and went over for the WSOP. Played only cash games and sats for which you got lammers you could sell. I'll never forget Jack Binion's free meals for poker players, plus you got to go to the front of the line if you were seated in a game. Great ham and eggs breakfast!

when i went 15 yrs ago, there were no bum/panhandlers under the canopy.
    security kept them away.
i also dont remember street performers. (asking for tips to take pics with them.)

now i see pics of both these types of people all over the place under the canopy.
    Why did mgmt allow this?

I had a similar experience in ‘99, except I got killed in the satellites! I wasn’t ready, realized it, and didn’t go back for six years, until I built a bankroll, but by then it was moved to the Rio. I also played a main event satellite and got my Aces all in snapped by picket threes. The guy that did it was Noel Furlong. I don’t know if he went on to win a seat, but he did win the main event that year.

The Fremont Street Experience has metal detectors to enter, but don't worry they are not plugged in...
