Taking an honest look at desertrunner's threads, most of them got action -- and I'm talking about serious discussion, not just troll posts.

If someone creates a thread which spawns discussion, then it's a good thread. If the threads gets no response (or nothing but troll responses), then it's likely crap. That's the basic rule of thumb I use.

FPS_Russia (RIP), for example, used to start garbage threads which nobody would read. That's not the case with desertrunner.

It is true that desertrunner created a large volume of threads, and this can start to be bothersome to the reader, as it can drown out other threads on the front page. This can be true even if all of his threads are good. So in that sense, he should cool it down some.

However, the threads he started were largely pretty good quality, including some topics (such as the flightlights) which hadn't been discussed before. There were a few duds in there, but most of the threads ranged from decent to good. That's why I didn't put a stop to it.

I've known desertrunner in real life for about 10 years. As he's already mentioned, he's not from the poker or gambling communities. He's a good guy, and would definitely stop creating threads if I asked him to. I actually didn't ask him anything because I felt that his contributions to PFA were more a lot more positive than negative. I was about to ask him just to create fewer threads (similar to what Crowe suggested), but it looks like he's voluntarily taking a break anyway.

I can assure you that he's not doing it to troll here, and was just trying to get some discussions going.
