The old school Maglights are weak in terms of brightness and using old alkaline batteries is just not productive anymore.

This will def thump some skulls and still light up the whole city block...

How much? The person I whose bones I crack won't merit my using a designer club.
Looks like $100 at Amazon, might be cheaper at Nebo.

Pick I sent to Druff yesterday...

^^^ Are nudes allowed on PFA?

However, the rest of the forums here are "serious business", where trolling or garbage are never allowed.

I will try to be mostly "hands off" with moderating those forums (especially The Bathroom Wall), but I don't want to see any of the following:

    1) Pornography or "shock pictures"
    2) People who are here only to ruin the forum with trolling or constant negativity
    3) People who "take over" the forum by posting too many messages/threads or pick fights with everyone

    Ones like that are ok.

I had to delete an outright porn pic posted earlier.

Please no more junk/troll posts in this thread.

well, $100 is a lot, but maybe if the grooves on the light end could be fitted to hold a few wrapped strands of barbwire for when the SHTF (thus I'd have a "mini-Lucille")--but i still like my carbon steel Maglite

You know what, I'm sold. I've always bought these shitty flashlights at Walmart or the drugstore, and inevitably what happens is the D-batteries corrode. Then when I actually need one, the shits don't work.

I probably have 3 or 4 dead flashlights in my home right now an 0 functional ones.

Good call. I really like the Pelican line, you might like the 5050r or the newer 7600. Streamlight is really good too. Both companies have a lifetime warranty. If you look around, you might like Fenix too, but I dont like the cheap rubber coverings on their USB ports.

If some of you guys are digging the geek talk, Fenix is a cult brand in the light world. I like them, but dont own any. Their PD36r is pretty nice, but again, I dont like the cheap rubber covering over the USB port. But the USB-C charge time is pretty good...

Back in the day, I saw maglites as bats. These new flashlights, tho, are weapons just by their lighting. You put 6K lumens in someone's face, they ain't gonna see ANYThING for more than long enough for you to get away or get in as many bind shots as you can.

Former OC and LV resident. I am all about the "Big 3"- Guns, knives and flashlights, they all work together in a system.

A different note- Speaking of LV, I have done the drive from the OC to LV numerous times from 1991 to present. I do love the uphill drive from the 91 to the 15 to the stateline to the city. Having a good light onboard my vehicle is a must for the long desert trek. From a flat tire to car break down to someone fucking with you, gotta have a good light, in my opinion.

Surefire or streamlight if you want a good light to last you for the next 20 or 30 years or more, brands to bet your safety on. You can get a g2x for $50-60 bucks, 600 lumens or a protac 2l-x for the same price, 500 lumens. These are as bright as you need.

I use lights with the lithium cr 123 batteries. They have long dates on them. Streamlight stylus w/AAA is also good for $20, 100 lumens for when you don't need as much light. Alkaline batteries will not leak in a good light like streamlight provided you don't leave the batteries in for years past the expiration date. Maglites will corrode the batteries in less than a year.

Use rechargeable lights if that's your thing, but I know my lights w/cr 123 batteries are going to fire if I'm stuck in the dark and need them.

Buy either a g2x or protac AND a stylus pro for $70 bucks altogether, and these are all the lights you'll really need for the future. I keep a cheap 9 dollar olight w/90 lumens to use for finding stuff I drop or regular use around the house. That way my main lights are always good and bright and in place for times when I need them.

I'm not a collector or even enthusiast. I just came to realize it's important to have a light, and having redundancies is good.

    Flashlights are serious business

I’m a 6 cell Mag Light man myself. I can light up my whole back yard and crack your fucking skull open if the need arises.

I have a friend who is about 18 years old and we were chatting about lights one time and he was kinda interested and then bought a Pelican 2380r and later texted me how much he has unexpectably used it it during power outages, etc. He's a light geek now for sure.

I agree on some points. I absolutely cant jive with alkaline batteries. I use a Browning Crossfire at home alot and have USB recharge it about 1-2 times a week. My lights are like my cell phone- Used alot and need to be recharged via USB cable. The old school alkaline batteries are slowly dying and I think the industry will be dead soon as USB recharging will take over.

I think Druff is getting a tactical light soon and I hope he gives a review of it on a future PFA show.
