I wish I could see what lead to this, I mean the guy just lost his job and probably won’t deal
Poker in Vegas again. Also I’ll be there January 6-9 and 21-24th I’ll let you know how it is.
I’ve had two friends go recently and both said it was terrible on the strip. Ghetto as fuck, when I go, we rented a car to check out the surrounding area, maybe look at some sand and Do a little hiking.
The video was private, works now, thanks Druff!

So there's some more information on this. BTW, the video isn't private. Not sure why you're getting that. Probably worth downloading, though, in case it vanishes. Maybe I'll do that.
The dealer is a poker industry veteran known as "Patches". He has dealt to me before. He is mostly well-liked in poker circles, especially among pros. When he dealt at my table, he did a fairly good job and acted professionally.
He did get fired, according to sources. This isn't surprising.
However, according to other sources, this fight occurred because the player was drunk, verbally abusive, and threw beer on Patches, which then made Patches flip out.
A Gofundme was started on Patches' behalf: https://www.gofundme.com/f/poker-dealers-for-patches
Oddly, it was only seeking a paltry $2500, but has raised almost $10k at the time I'm writing this. It was started by someone named Keila Amos-Odeinas.
Patches is a veteran Poker Dealer in Las Vegas and a friend to many!!! He showed up at work in the middle of a pandemic to do his job as a professional poker dealer... He was berated and attacked and he simply protected himself... All of us have experienced someone who has belittled us at work and we know how helpless that feels... lets do our part to show him we have his back...
Farah Galfond (Phil's wife) was among the many known names in poker to stand up for Patches and promote his Gofundme. She also believes that he will lose his license with Clark County to continue dealing, as Gaming will have to investigate this.

While Patches is black, there isn't likely going to be a racial element to this matter, because the other guy involved wasn't white. It's hard to tell the race of the other guy -- maybe mixed or black -- but it's definitely not white.
Allen Kessler posted about it on his (public) Facebook, and a guy named Sean Van Pham provided one of the few negative statements about Patches:
I don't know Sean Van Pham, and I don't know if any of the above is true. I will say that the rest of the comments on Allen's Facebook were pro-Patches. However, I wanted to include this in order to cover all bases.Patches has been dealing for awhile. He has had many problems before. He is a degenerate that loses his tips on break and gambles away all his earnings on a weekly basis. This leads to him having a general negative attitude when he returns to deal and just lost money. He has dealt in NYC and had issues. He has dealt at the Taj Mahal in Atlantic City and had issues. He also plays poker and has had issues at the Orleans poker room with players as a player. I’m not surprised
A guy named Scott Yeates in that discussion said that the fight was delayed -- basically that Patches waited until he was moved off the table to go on break, and instead went around to beat the guy up:
By "dealer pushed him", he presumably meant that another dealer was sent to replace him (either on normal schedule or in order to relieve the tension), and at that point Patches walked around and hit the guy who had thrown beer on him.Dealer pushed him, not sure if early, instead of going on break, Patches walked around and beat the shit out of the guy.
However, it's not clear to me why Patches or someone else didn't call the floor after the beer incident, and have the guy ejected. It's a bit hard to believe that Patches and everyone else simply said nothing, and then Patches waited until he was moved off the table before starting the fight. So maybe that part isn't correct.
If you want to see the Kessler page Facebook thread, it's open to everyone, even if you're not friends with Kessler on there: https://www.facebook.com/allen.kessl...04856242879105
Thought it might be Patches. Good dealer. Unfortunate.

Good for him.
If you wouldn’t do the same you are a worthless, pathetic cuck of a man .
Shame he never dealt to me but my girlfriend wouldn’t let me play poker when I was in Vegas....
cmoney :It would be nice if Mexico could simply get human feces out of its drinking water
There should be zero tolerance for Dealer abuse. I know it’s a gray area because sometimes someone can say something like “I can’t believe he pulled that fucking card”. The player is frustrated and just doesn’t have the time to choose his words to say “that fucking river” and includes the dealer in a non personal way.
So this can be abused in a sense. But when the abuse is clear, there should be a timeout penalty at the least and then next time you are gone. If it is bad enough the first time you are gone. Kind of like the yellow and red card in Soccer.
Ive only called the floor for dealer abuse when I am pretty certain the dealer wants someone to do so. They deal with it so much that I feel they are drowning it out and really don’t want the floor involved.
I would love to see a card room that actually promotes treating their dealers respectfully.

Patches' real name is Leandre Wharton.
This is indirectly mentioned on the Gofundme, but not in a prominent spot.
If the dealer was "pushed" by another dealer and actually came back for the drama, there is really no excuse. He can't control his temper and should be fired. Dealing with rowdy costumers is part of a public facing position like this and there are several normal ways to deal with this appropriately, including:
- Calling the floor and having the customer warned
- Calling the floor again and having the customer get a 24h ban
- Calling the floor and having the customer get a life ban
- Asking the floor to be "pushed" early to another table
- Asking the floor to go on break
- Asking the floor to take the day off
- Asking the floor to get security and pursue whatever he thinks is an "attack". A few beer droplets is not something I would say is an attack, but opinions can differ on this.
Over the years, I have seen dealers take all of the above responses.
In fact, I have seen dealers complain to floor over the smallest customer issues and I have seen the floor give 24 bans for issues that were largely the customer venting a little. This is poker; real people come to drink, gamble, and some come to vent a little...
There is almost nothing that would warrant this sort of response from a dealer. Just because one party does not act civilized does not give permission for the other party to not act civilized. There is no excuse for this dealer's actions and he should not be working at what is supposedly a premier poker room in Vegas.
He posted on Facebook that he's officially been fired from Aria, which isn't a surprise.
His Facebook post was apologetic, and he referred to the incident as "a moment of weakness". He praised the Aria staff and did not criticize anyone in the statement.
More to come...
Here's what Patches posted on his Facebook:

To all my friends and family:
I found out yesterday that I’ve been officially let go from Aria.
Time to start a new chapter in life. I appreciate all the love and caring I received from everyone. I was shocked and overwhelmed by the responses. I am really saddened and mad at myself for my moment of weakness. I want to take this opportunity to apologize to the guy I tussled with, and MGM and especially to my Aria family.
A lot of people don’t know this, but mgm staff has a bad reputation, and trust me, some of its well deserved. I’ve been in some of the sister properties, LOL! However, I can honestly say Aria poker staff are some of the best people I have ever had the chance of meeting and working with. I love you all, and I will miss you all.
Once again, thank you all once again for the tremendous outpouring of love, kindness, and selfless acts. You have no idea what it truly all meant to me!
Pretty interesting that he's taking full responsibility, and even apologizing to the punk he hit. Seems like a decent guy who just lost his temper, and now unfortunately has to pay the price for it.
Assume Patches could deal in AZ, CA or NM?
