This guy just posted his set up and some details. Me- I love SUV camping in the desert and want to get a 4Runner and do this in remote areas of Nevada and Arizona. I just spoke to him on Messenger and he said he might post a video later on. He is on the California side, 15 miles in off of Dunn Road. He doesnt expect any flash floods tonight and said the moon is lighting up the whole area.
What it look like he has- Overhead lantern, camp fire, tripod and he said he has 4G. He's using his Samgsung phone, headlamp, lanterns, no weapon (firearm), firewood and a 5° sleeping bag inside the Nissan Xterra.
What I would add or bring- Ice cooler for drinks, dont know if he has one, atleast one firearm/pistol, I have a USB lantern and small kick stand USB work light. I am a flashlight geek, so atleast one of them (USB rechargable) and my Jackery 20k miliamp power bar to recharge them and/or run the laptop and lights. I would bring a laptop to watch a movie on DVD. As for a portable heater, I guess not. Add in an ipod and portable bluetooth speaker if I want to listen to some music. What I have done in the past is have a mini gas BBQ and grill some chicken. The salad was pre-made at home and grab a garlic bread roll. The individual salads can be in tupperware and just eat out of the bowls. The garlic bread can be in foil and just rolled on the grill before or after the chicken.
The one thing here is having a firearm, I PM'd him and offered to help him or get him on path. I also have ammo to share. Out there, I would be rolling a Glock 19 for sure and maybe my shotgun.
Druff- Maybe interview this guy on PFA for the next Mojave Desert segment?
Anyways, a sweet overnight trip.
