When Micon first told me about bitcoin in 2011, I referred to it as "a cute little science project", and said that it wasn't going to go anywhere. Micon was very high on it, but keep in mind that Micon had gotten excited about a ton of stupid things in the past, so his credibility wasn't high about that sort of thing. Also, my friendship with him had deteriorated somewhat by then (though hadn't completely blown up yet), so he didn't try as hard to convince me as he would have in previous years. He did explain bitcoin to me, and showed me how the whole thing worked. It was $5/coin then.
