Not according to idiots like the mayor of Portland and others. Rioting and shit is perfectly safe from Covid but apparently having family over for a small get together is akin to being a Nazi and committing the Holocaust. They’re working their best to wipe Thanksgiving Channakuh and Christmas off the calendar this year. For something that’s a threat to old people and those with poor health choices.

His results came back today.
POSITIVE
Not that I'm surprised. I was pretty sure he had it.
His symptoms first appeared on November 2. He is still fatigued and still coughing, but not as bad as last week. I'm guessing this will be gone fairly soon, and he will end up okay.
Yes, wearing a mask DOES also protect the wearer, it isn't perfect, but its a shitload better than not wearing one. You are less likely to inhale the disease thru a mask, and even when it does get thru, you are likely to get a lower dose, and the dose directly affects how bad your shit is gonna get.
So please stop saying it doesn't protect the wearer against shit. It does.
Even the CDC has finally been allowed to say that masks help the wearer.
https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019...sars-cov2.html
"Masks are primarily intended to reduce the emission of virus-laden droplets (“source control”), which is especially relevant for asymptomatic or presymptomatic infected wearers who feel well and may be unaware of their infectiousness to others, and who are estimated to account for more than 50% of transmissions. Masks also help reduce inhalation of these droplets by the wearer (“filtration for personal protection”). The community benefit of masking for SARS-CoV-2 control is due to the combination of these effects; individual prevention benefit increases with increasing numbers of people using masks consistently and correctly."
Because, you fucking moron, if masks help prevent droplets from getting out, they also help them from getting in.
If the CDC says it, then it's probably true.
However, I question how useful the mask is to the wearer. If it makes you 1% safer, the CDC's statement would still be true. It actually makes more sense that lowering the distance of projectiles or breath (which wearing a mask does) is different than filtering the virus once it hits you. In the first case, it never gets to you because the mask held it back from reaching you. In the second case, it's reached you, and the mask needs to prevent the virus from getting through, which is a whole different matter.
Master Scalir inexplicably has pain in his side today. Hopefully that isn't a bad sign of things getting worse again.
The coughing has decreased over the past week.
Remember that it is also believed that initial dose of corona also helps determine how bad you get it. The bigger the initial viral load, the worse you get it, evidence suggests. If a mask can filter any of it, its helpful to the wearer. You cant let the perfect be the enemy of the good. Yes, the mask is primarily for controlling the output of the wearer, but it is not ineffective against the incoming shit, and every bit helps, or so the evidence suggests so far.
I'm not against mask wearing. I am just curious how much it helps. Just to say "it helps" doesn't tell us much. I know you don't have that answer, nor do I.
There is one downside to mask wearing, which isn't discussed very much, even by the anti-maskers. It gives the illusion of security. Sadly, some of this is what led to Master Scalir himself to take more risks. Masking has been pushed so hard by the media and certain politicians as a solution, that people feel secure when they wear them. That causes people to take risks which they otherwise wouldn't take if they didn't feel protected.
That's why I simply want full transparency and honesty about masks, including what they do and don't do. That's better for the public than simply putting forth a misleading message which is intended to result in the most mask compliance.
We need to wear better masks.
That's actually a good point. I didn't think of that. I'm not sure where it is on his side.
I can't find a symptom of side pain regarding COVID. There are all kinds of weird things your body does when sick, so I tend not to worry too much about random aches and pains when not feeling well.
