    pretty boring stuff.

toss me some rope here, but they've had 8 sessions and haven't even played 2k in hands, which means they're <1/10 of the way finished....lol

also, it seems like in 50% of the sessions there has been an avg $175k swing.

The streams are only as good as the people doing the commentary, and for the most part, the ggpoker channel is very milquetoast and Doug's channel is hit or miss, but more entertaining in general, IMO.

But its def background kind of stuff. I like to throw it on the TV when I'm falling asleep on the couch.

Daniel could make money doing gay porn.

It's a real shame that there's no hole cards. It's currently drawing about 20,000 concurrent viewers each session, but it would probably do 5x that with cards up.

I get it though, it's a huge disadvantage for Daniel to expose that info. It's understandable that he refused.

This is not Daniel's first publicized heads up challenge.

You might remember that Daniel was briefly the face of the Wynn poker room when it opened along with the hotel in 2005. Daniel supposedly "challenged" the poker world to a $100k-$500k freezout heads-up match. The gimmick was that the challenger was allowed to pick the game from a pre-selected list Daniel presented.

I'll play anyone in the world a heads up freeze out for any amount from $100,000 to $500,000. As for the game of choice- I'll let you pick it from the following list. You can choose just one or any mix of games you want.

    Limit Hold'em
    Omaha H/L
    Stud H/L
    Stud
    2-7 Triple Draw
    A-5 Triple Draw
    Pot Limit Omaha
    Pot Limit Hold'em
    No Limit Hold'em
Daniel faced 9 opponents, all in 2005:

    May 13 Limit Hold'em 2000-4000 $200,000 David Oppenheim LOST
May 16 Limit Hold'em 4000-8000 $500,000 Mimi Tran WON (probably Barry Greenstein's money)
    May 23 Limit Hold'em 2000-4000 $200,000 Joe Cassidy LOST
June 4 7 Card Stud 4000-8000 $500,000 Barry Greenstein LOST
June 15 7 Card Stud 4000-8000 $500,000 Barry Greenstein LOST
June 16 PL Omaha 1000-2000 $500,000 Barry Greenstein WON
    June 17 Stud 8 4000-8000 $500,000 Barry Greenstein WON
July 15 PL Omaha 1000-2000 $500,000 Tony Bloom WON
(date unknown) Pot Limit Hold'em vs Unknown Businessman Rec "JD" Pot Limit Holdem $500,000 LOST

Despite going 4-5, he ended up winning, because he was 4-3 in the $500k matches, and 0-2 in the $200k matches.

Daniel was most bothered by losing to the businessman, saying, "I was sick about losing to the business man in PLH, I ran so bad it was creepy. He played very weak. He didn't raise pre-flop and and never check-raised. How I lost... I'll never know, LOL."

He made excuses regarding losing to Oppenheim, claiming he was "distracted". However, Oppenheim was likely the better HU Limit Holdem player.

He admitted that he "made mistakes" against Cassidy by getting too aggressive when trying to adjust to him.

In Daniel's defense, Cassidy and Oppenheim were excellent HU limit players.

It is likely that the Wynn was either completely backing him or somewhat backing him for these matches, which had to take place at the Wynn, and were highly promoted. Not too long after that, Daniel either quit or was fired from his job as the face of Wynn Poker.

I'll talk about the other heads up contest he had around the same time, in the next post.

Obviously I wouldnít know beyond tv, but Oppenheim always struck me as a stone cold killer back then. Just a dude who was less about trying to land endorsement deals and all about taking your $.

HU poker peaked with Isildur1. I vividly remember his run on FT coincided with me not studying for my SAT

There was a big (and kinda stupid) rivalry going on, circa 2004-2005, between Neverwinpoker and Daniel's Full Contact Poker forum.

The rivalry started because neverwin talked trash on NWP about how he could easily crush Negreanu heads up, and someone then posted the claim over on FCP. Negreanu responded, which caused a lot of his fanboys on FCP to get emotionally involved, and they started hating on neverwin.

Also, the two userbases were fairly different. NWP was full of brash degenerate types. FCP had a lot of sensitive, touchy-feely types who were very offended at a lot of the coarse language, trolling, and nudity/porn scattered throughout NWP. (In one memorable moment on FCP, a regular male user nervously started a thread coming out as bisexual, and everyone was surprised when many other regular male posters responded by saying they were bi, as well. This was in 2005, about 5 years before the mass acceptance of gays in American culture, and long before any males came out as gay in poker.)

By 2020 standards, NWP was toxic masculinity, and FCP was the SJW crew.

Anyway, NWP and FCP were always bashing each other (more on the NWP side, though), and Mulva's current avatar was hilariously made by an NWP user at the time.

Surprisingly, despite all the talk, neverwin and Daniel never played this much-talked-about heads up match!

However, also on NWP, some new trash talk started about Daniel's game. A guy named "Dreamclown" showed up on Pokerroom.com (which has been gone for a long time now), and started crushing everyone at high stakes heads up there. At first, nobody knew the identity of this mysterious "Dreamclown" -- only that he was taking everyone for a fortune at heads up Limit Holdem. Well, after a little time, the identity was revealed -- and it turned out to be multiple people sharing the account. Back in 2005, this was considered okay by the community and fairly standard, so there was no scandal out of that part. But who was behind it?

It turned out that the account was operated by a number of people who called themselves "GCC" (I think it stood for "Get Crunk Crew"). The GCC included Brett Richey ("get crunk"), Matt Woodward ("woodrow"), Eugene Leader ("eugeneel"), and a fourth guy I can't remember. The fourth guy was the actual owner of the Dreamclown account, which was created to be a friendly mocking of Brett's then-rap group "Dreamclone".

Anyway, they started talking all kinds of shit about Daniel, much of it on NWP. Because Dreamclown was getting a lot of attention at the time for their heads-up dominance, Daniel took note of it, and commented on FCP. This led Dreamclown to challenge Daniel to a heads-up match, which he accepted.

It was agreed upon by Daniel that these players could share the Dreamclown account against him, but had to identify when they were switching off. Daniel had a Pokerroom skin at the time running through Full Contact Poker, so he used this to promote his new site somewhat.

The trash talked in the chat was pretty harsh on both sides, and in fact it made the current match between Doug and Daniel seem downright friendly by comparison. After the matches, the GCC members would get on NWP and bash Daniel's play, calling him a fish and a "ragdoll", often posting hand histories to mock him.

They were playing 500-1000 limit holdem. The match took place mostly in late December 2005, finishing up on January 1, 2006.

    The results?

    Session 1: Dreamclown won 12k
    Session 2: Dreamclown won 22k
    Session 3: Daniel won 67k
    Session 4: Daniel won 6k
    Session 5: Dreamclown won 67k

Total: Daniel lost 28k, which isn't very much at 500-1000.

So it was a small victory for Dreamclown, but overall it was fairly even. Daniel at one point was up $80k in session 5, only to go on a brutal -$147k downswing.

Despite all the trash talk, Daniel did praise the play of the then-unknown Matt/Woodrow, by saying he was the best of the players he faced, and that he was also the only one who was "mature" and "respectful" during the match.

Of the members of the GCC, I believe Matt is the only one still playing poker actively. They're all in their late 30s now.

The fourth dude in the get crunk crew was some Italian dude. Tony something or other. That was funny shit to watch back then.

Daniel just posted this picture today from yesterday's Thanksgiving:

Has Amanda had work done already on her face? Kinda looks like it. I believe she's 36 now, so it's very possibile.

This actually makes the age difference between them (only about 10 years) look a lot greater.

Iíve never seen anything like the Vegas young girl cosmetic surgery thing. My little cousin is 32. She was getting shit done at 28. Reminded me of that Chantel chick. All her friends look the same.

I canít tell with Amanda. If so it isnít severe and well done. I actually think it serves the opposite purpose for these young girls in Vegas. When I see a girl with work done, my brain defaults to assuming sheís like 38. Great if youíre 45, but not when youíre 31.

I don't even like it for most of these women when they're older. Face looks too plastic and unnatural. But I definitely agree regarding women under 35, aside from nose jobs in certain cases.

I had this exact criticism regarding Chantel. Remember how naturally pretty she was in 2006 or so? She didn't need any facial plastic surgery. She was very pretty already.

At first she got a boob job. Okay. When we were friends, she kept telling me how much it bothered her that her tits were small, so I could understand why she did that.

However, then she became too into the plastic surgery thing, and kept having work done on her face. Too bad.

    Amanda looks good, just different.

He had such an awful blog back then that was mostly unreadable save for high stakes recaps.

I remember he would jump around all over, from new age Christian babble, cringeworthy political takes, being vegan...and then Bobby's Room game recaps that I gobbled up at the time.

Can only imagine how bad it got if he posted thorugh his cult years.
