1) This is just a murder. I don't say that to lessen to loss of her life. It's just a regular, run of the mill, crime of opportunity committed by one person against another person. It happens to 45 people every single day in this country. The only thing that sets this one apart is that a violent immigrant who is in this country illegally is the one who committed the murder.
2) George Floyd was killed by those who are hired to protect him. The police are meant to protect and serve the citizens they serve. Murdering citizens, especially black citizens in a country with so much built in systemic racism, when your entire job description is the PROTECT and serve them is unforgivable.
3) Laken Riley's death does not "mean nothing" her name is plastered across every single news outlet in this country. Ive seen countless twitter posts and Tiktok videos about women's safety when all they're trying to do is exercise, shouting "say her name!" so her and her story are not forgotten. Her memorial services are public and candlelight vigils are planned as well. There is nothing about this situation that suggests her death means "nothing"
You're wrong across all counts. The situations are different because of who the victims were murdered by and her death has been anything but ignored and nothing about the coverage of it points to her death meaning nothing.
