I remember when the libs were all proud that the changing demographics in Texas -- rapidly becoming more and more Hispanic -- would result in it going blue.
They forecasted 2024, with 2020 being a possibility.
Then one Donald J. Trump won the Republican nomination and then the Presidency, and quickly became popular with Hispanic males. While Hispanics overall were still more Democrat than Republican, the percentage of them voting D declined, thus reversing the state's previous trend of being headed toward being blue.
Now the Dems have conceded they'll lose Texas in '24 (the year they were supposed to flip it), and some in the party have given up entirely on the idea of flipping it anytime in the near future.
This was very important, as the Republicans would have a very hard time winning the Presidency without Texas, and Texas being blue could leave the country in Democratic Presidential hands for many years to come.
Stopping the Texas blue trend was arguably the most important positive thing Trump did for the Republicans.
