    Spectacular Gambling Losses

This forum has become too much about political banter, it is after all a gambling forum. Let's try and get back on track.

My most ridiculous loss was in Las Vegas about 10 years ago. $25,000 serious jack down the fucking drain. I got hammered in the high limit room after being coolered on a poker hand a few hours earlier, I just could not shake the loss.

I literally lost hand after hand, $200 a pop. Double downs are unforgiving. Cab ride was the worst to the airport the next morning, I mean the worst.

Anyway, it was net brutal on the flight home, I think I was comped 5 Bloody Mary's on the flight home after I explained to the flight attendant what happened. Flight was half full. The flight attendant kept asking why did you not stop after a couple G, I explained I did not know. He kept bringing me shots, I have no idea if he was homosexual, he seemed like a good dude either way. I netted up $5 a shot so only down $24,975 for the trip.

One other thing, I generally have never been into the high limit pits, just not my thing. But I was rotating table to table to catch up on this night. None of the dealers were even remotely interested. Win or lose, they would pay the chips or scoop them. Sometimes I had a grand on the felt. They wonder why they do not get the tips they feel like they should get, at least fake the emotion.

Druff needs to get a dealer on here why they go out of their way to be so emotionless.

Biggest reason I did well in poker was I had great game selection and bankroll management. One night though at around 3am decided to play a regular in heads up nl on prima. Lost 5k in about 30 mins which was 30% of my roll on the site. Never tilted since. Well accept when the casino eventually went into liquidation.

A few years ago I got into bitcoin and started playing on swc. Was up and down up to over 100 btc playing high stakes headsup, mostly PLO and some NL back when btc was worth approx 260$/btc. Honestly felt I had the beating of the dumbasses I was playing headsup but they had me completely outgunned on the bankroll front, admittedly early adopters of btc and could afford to play by the seat of their pants.

Think I started off by depositing £2k. My high was approx 160 btc, I remember losing a pot for over 70 btc at one point. Eventually I lost the whole lot back and got about £20k in the hole.

Not good, took me a while to pay it back on credit cards. I had never gambled beyond my own money before that, but the ease with which I was winning at first trapped me. Learnt a big life lesson and it could have been worse- goes back to Mike Cairo’s “Threshold of Misery” theory.
