So long story short they will give the Dems a full day, maybe longer, to bitch and moan but at some point very shortly we are going to get a new justice.

And what’s different this time is we have a majority senate that was just affirmed a year ago. The Obama seat the democrats had just lost the senate Which gave them the “right” (precedent a better word) to say the public may have changed its mind on this president so we should wait until the next election. No senate has changed hands and confirmed a justice Nominated by an opposing president since the 1800’s. It’s apples and oranges. If the democrats took back the senate a year ago Guarantee you They wouldn’t confirm a Trump justice.

this whole line of thinking is reflective of what's wrong with the system.

of course merrick garland should have been confirmed.

why? because the criteria for nominating someone should be experience, inteeligence, qualifications, etc. not how they wll vote. justices shouldn't even be asked how they will vote

people might be surprised to learn that the most conservative justice ever -- antonin scalia -- was confirmed *unanimously* back in the day. every dem voted for him

now senators ask the justices how they will vote on abortion and other issues, and presidents openly admit they will only pick justices who agree with them.

we are a total bunch of morons --and by we, i mean the voters -- because we endorse these tactics . in fact, we'll vote out senators who don't think like this.

all we care about is *winning* right now and don't care about our democracy surviving

*of course* the dems will pack the court when they are next in power. what else do we deserve?

the republicans would do the same thing if the roles were reversed.

so while republicans are applauding this, we should all be horribly depressed about how we are quickly becoming a failed experiment

You’re right to say the entire thing has become a shitshow, which it has, but who is mostly to blame?

I’m gonna go with the party that ran a three year Hoax investigation that came up with ZERO evidence of Russia collusion and returned no indictments and then quickly turned around and wasted the country’s time and money with a highly questionable impeachment that had ZERO chance of succeeding.

I’m not saying the GOP is perfect, in fact I think they pretty much suck all around but to me it’s obvious the Democrats have pushed us to the brink of governmental meltdown by refusing to recognize the legitimacy of Trump’s presidency from Day One. And they continue to do so to the country’s detriment in pursuit of their unquenchable thirst for unlimited power.

The United States needs two things badly.

A federal level law that makes abortion legal, within already generally accepted guidelines (3 months or x months if the child is horrifically damaged).

A federal level law that covers & guarantees all the different concepts impacting Gay Marriage in all 50 states.

You take those two concepts by legislation, where it should be handled, it takes the judiciary off the hook And makes it a much less personal level political entity.

Correct. But see Rome and a few others throughout time. The basis for their demise (and ours) are remarkably similar. The process is set in motion and we are past the point of no return.

this is wrong. the number of justices is not set in the constitution. congress can change the number of justices like any other law if they wanted. the senate can also eliminate the filibuster by a simple majority vote of senators if it wanted to
Congress can also add new states by a majority vote. So DC and PR for sure. There are more territories, so maybe the Dems can come up with a few more.

So she’s either a robot that needs a software update or she’s reading a teleprompter with prepared answers to scripted questions because she’s mentally incapable of answering them herself (Joe Biden playbook). Not sure which one is more concerning.

Watch this vid to learn about some conservotards got triggered when this musician posted a short vid honoring RBG upon hearing of her passing. Plus, he has an epic beard that makes me super jealous knowing I could never grow.
