Note- I try not to post too much stuff in the Flying Stupidity section, but if I dont do it in the moment, I'll forget.
Been looking for this clip for awhile as I remember it was recorded around tax day. I was sitting in my car outside of a Taco Bell in South Sac, CA listening to the Poorman's Radio Invasion Show. I was also pissed over the large public support for the criminal in the story, but Druff phoned in and laid down a pretty good opinion. Druff and I were kinda regulars on the mid-day show and called in often. Who is Poorman- https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jim_Trenton
The story- In 2015 in the high desert area of Victorville/Hesperia, a dude was on run from SBCo sheriff deputies, went to some random house and stole a horse. The Deputies pursued and caught up to him and beat him prior to the arrest. The SBCo SD typically flies personnel to outlying urban areas by helicopter because its faster than auto or 4x4. The rub- the deputies heard the helo overhead and assumed it was their agencies bird so know one will know what we do...instead it was a KNBC new copter filming. Then there was the public outcry and fall out. The legal battle went back and forth as this guy sued, got a big settlement, then the County DA came back and hammered him for some other legal loophole.
Anyways, I remember enjoying this specific segment because it was a legit news story and the Poorman actually hosted a good show (sometimes rare). And Druff made some good points including the caller after him inserting the adrenaline factor within the deputies. Out of all of the shows Poorman did, this was the best and one of the very few good broadcasts. Im a Poorman fan as well as Druff, but sometimes Pman's shows were lame.
Fast forward to audio mark 39:00 to hear Druff's call...
