I'll never forget the time he called me up in 2001 asking me what was wrong because I had taken a few weeks off from playing on Party.

Played with him a few times at WSOP, was always well mannered and dignified.

He's almost 73, btw.

News came out further. Sexton is indeed on DD watch. He entered hospice care in August due to advanced prostate cancer. Sad indeed. Mike Sexton has always had a great rep as a player, executive and person all around.

Sexton was always the strangest old time Vegas poker pro to me. Just seemed super nice and unlike any of the stereotypes I associate with life long grinders. Just appeared a boy scout in a world of scumbags. Never heard a truly degen story about him other than a few tough gambling runs. That he was such great friends with Ungar was even more bizarre. Like one was all about cocaine and hookers and such a trainwreck and Sexton like some Presbyterian preacher in comparison. Truly interesting character. Sorry to hear he’s ill.

He occupies a peace with life that virtually none of us ever will. Mad respect.

Was lucky enough to sit at Sexton's table in 2014 at the WPT500. I shared World Cup betting strat with him. A gentleman and a good dude. Doesn't look good but hope he makes it out, he's a big part of the reason poker is where it is.

I heard he blew some/most/all (depending on who you talk to) his party poker $$ betting sports.

I played with him once. He leaves a great legacy. One of the few guys in poker I ever was around whom I wish was my friend.
