Getting (Re)Started With Non-regulated Online Poker?

    Hey PFA, it's been awhile...

I played all the old sites back in the day before Black Friday… Paradise, Party, Stars and Full Tilt.

I took a long break from online poker until PokerStarsPA came online last year and I just so happened to live there at the time.

Now I live in a state without regulated online poker and I’m wondering what the best options are these days, considering:

1- Game Selection: I’m mostly interested in cash games… LHE would be wonderful, but low stakes NLHE is ok too. Having sportsbetting available wouldn’t hurt either.

2- Quality of software: Not really interested in tons of disconnects; I’m ok with using a VPN but am not tech-savvy enough for anything more than the basics.

3- Ease of getting $ on and off as safely (or anonymously) as possible: Can deposits/withdrawals be linked to bank accounts? Do I have to figure out BTC or other ways to get money on and off? I obviously want to minimize the chances of getting rolled, scammed or FullTilted.

What are the pros and cons of ACR? Bovada? GG Poker? Others I’m forgetting?

    Help me get started please!

Bovada is tops along with zone poker built in for lightning speed and action. Huds are absent which is huge . Don't think huds work on zone , people continue to use them for ring game sessions. Good tournament schedule on ignition poker. Winning network is rife with bots along with constant crashes of internet. Ask Mulva about Global poker. gl Bitcoin available on ignition.

I also recently got back into online after black Friday.
I went with Ignition and so far so good.
The tables are anonymous so you don't know who the other players are at the table and they don't know who you are.
Check out youtube for vids of Ignition to get an idea of how the site works.

I used bitcoin to deposit on Ignition.
With advise from here I discovered that you should NOT deposit from the big crypto exchanges directly to a gambling site as the exchanges don't like gambling sites.

As an example, you can buy bitcoin on Coinbase (or other exchange) once you set up an account with them.
Then send your bitcoin to a middleman like Blockchain (after setting up an account).
The fund your online poker account from Blockchain.

I don't know what other middleman might work but Blockchain worked for me (this was advise I received from this forum).

This is how I did it and it's working for me without issues so far.

    Good luck,

Thanks Frank and Duke for the advice. I signed up for an account on ignition, which I understand is the same network as bovada. I set up a bitcoin wallet and purchased bitcoin but apparently because I bought bitcoin with a bank account I have to wait until 8/31 to transfer it to my wallet, then to the site. Oh well— I tried a (Gift) debit card I had but that didn’t work. So I wait, unless I can find someone willing to do a player transfer to get me started with $50 or so.

    Question....

So, a year and a half later, and a few bitcoin deposits later via Coinbase --> Blockchain.com Wallet --> Ignition Chips, I've built up somewhat of a balance and would like to take down some profits. What's the best way to do this? I recall someone saying using Coinbase and Blockchain.com was NOT a good way to go anymore (I think there may have been a radio show segment on this(?))....
So, nowadays what's the best method of withdrawing from Ignition?

Correct about Blockchain.com not being a good method of deposit or withdrawal anymore, they went full US rergulated market and will close accounts that send or receive direct from gaming sites. You want a non-custodial wallet / self custody wallet, you can withdraw into that wallet and then send to whatever exchange you like for sale. I like Trust wallet, I also will recommend Electrum wallet, Mycelium wallet, Exodus, and I hear Atomic wallet is just fine as well but no experience with. Honestly there are many available hot and cold wallets to choose from that will work just fine.

I even have used Kucoin (which is operating in USA unregulated) so doubt they care, they haven't yet...there terms state they won't allow "illegal gambling" unlike the US regulated sites that specify "all gambling". Kucoin also doesn't require any KYC so if they closed your account you just make another one. Still I would recommend just using one of the wallets mentioned above.

    Goodluck.

Also you might enjoy Betonline they have good software and decent low stakes games.

Ignition withdrawal was almost instantaneous, and Trust Wallet worked great. I used Coinbase to transfer it back to USD and then deposit into my bank account. Coinbase fees sure are hefty, tho!
    Thanks, aayjay.

    No problem Sandwich,

Regarding CB fees, drastically lower them by using coinbase pro or another exchange, Binance.US has very low if not the lowest USA fees:

    Fees (Maker/Taker)
    0.1%/0.1%

that get even lower when paying in $BNB .

Kucoin has same fees and has a discount as well paying w/ there exchange token $KCS
