That was originally the argument going on, and it was a reasonable one on their side.

However, since teachers unions are awful, they strayed from their reasonable position, and went straight to this idiotic tactic of holding children's education hostage for politics.
I agree with you on this point but what concerns me most is that the far left wing of the Democratic Party will overplay the public's genuine concern over police misbehavior and Trump may squeak out a narrow electoral victory. It's clear that the Republican strategy is to polarize the election and try to win one of Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, or Michigan while pulling ahead in Arizona and Florida during the final weeks of October. Actions like this only help the Republicans.
